Topaz Lake Report

 Many of us have heard of the tragic accident, when a boat capsized on the lake last weekend. I cannot stress the importance of safety and life jackets while out on any body of water. Remember that this time of year. The outside temperatures may be in the 70's or 80's. But the water temperature was 47 degrees on my last trip to the lake.

Topaz Lake Fishing Report

The lake level has gone down over the past week or so. Both docks at the Douglas County park are in the water. The shore line in the park is diminishing on the east side for  dry camping. But the park has RV and tent sites available within the park. Shore fishing has been slow to fair. Trollers have done good in the early morning

Smallmouth Action on The Carson River

The lake has leveled off from going up or down over the last week. Shore anglers are doing fair with Green or yellow powerbait on the California side. Trollers have been doing well with Rapalas or flashers. The Douglas County Park is open for launching, dayuse and camping. The Topaz Landing Marina is open for launching and boat mooring.

Topaz has been stocked very well this season and is fishing great. Shore and boat anglers are reporting trout averaging 12 to 14 inches with a few better mixed in. Bait fisherman using worms and bright dough baits near or off the bottom have done well in deeper water. Spin fisherman using spoons and diving plugs are finding aggressive fish.
