Great Hookups

by MIKE NIELSEN
Well yesterday we literally struggled to keep the fish tight. Great hookups, runouts then slack. Today we did not have the volume of bites but made em count. The boys took some for dinner then after we came in my son came down to boat to help clean and got a couple rainbows!

Mackinaw Biting Around The Lake

by DOUG BUSEY
Best areas to fish for mackinaw trout is off the Cal/Neva point or around Carnelian Bay. The drop offs in the area are dramatic and can change from 100 to 600 feet quickly. The shelf out from Tahoe City is also productive. On the south end, many anglers are successful toplinning with #9 to a #11 Rapala from the Cave Rock area to Logan Shoals.

Fishing Has Still Been Slow

by DOUG BUSEY
Fishing has still been slow. I caught 4 rainbows last weekend using green Powerbait. I fished on the south end of the lake. I spoke with a couple trollers that caught a few of the planter fish in the 8 to 12 inch class. I trolled the lake a couple weeks ago and had  fair success in the morning and then the bite quickly turned

Water Clarity Is DIfferent Around The Lake

by MIKE NIELSEN
Smaller grade of fish overall but still fun. Water clarity is very different in certain areas. Some places very murky already with some runoff while other areas it’s as clear as I can ever recall. I was showing the group bottom with naked eye at 60 ft with ease. The video looks like 5 ft in about 20 plus!

Fishing has been good on the north end of the lake.  Many limits of mackinaws have been coming in.  The Cal/Neva point to Carnelian Bay.  Most have been fishing the ledges with a flasher and a minnow.  I have not received any reports on the south end from any anglers.

NDOW has Planted Over 7000 lbs of Catchable Trout

by DOUG BUSEY
Not many anglers have gone out due to weather.  Last weekend I fished for about six hours with friend Tom Blotter.  We boated and released 3 fish in the 14 to 16 inch class.  The lake level has come up about 3-4 feet and the water clarity is good.  Surface temps were 37 to 39 degrees.  But the fishing was slow for boaters.  Shore anglers

Nice Catch

by HANS MOXLEY
A nice fish caught by Brendan LaFountain on February 23. We were fishing with Hans Moxley of Hooked Up Guide Service (530) 546-2221 out of Carnelian Bay on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. Hans worked hard and put us on limits for 4 fisherman before noon despite the cold weather. Can’t wait to go again! Report sent in by Tim Murphy.
