Spooner Open, But Ice Fishing Isn't Permitted

Spooner Lake remains open to fishing during the winter months but is typically covered in ice by mid-december.  Ice fishing is not permitted at the lake.

Which means that many roads in Alpine county have finally closed for the season.  With our recent storms brings ice on some of our surrounding lakes and ponds. I strongly recommend to stay off of the ice, even though our temperatures have plummeted, the ice is very thin and is very dangerous this time of year. The

Few macs for dinner today! Absolutely perfect day out. So calm! Rocco did a fantastic job fighting his fish that ended up being 10.3 lbs on the scale.

Fishing Opens on the 1st of January.

Fishing opens on the 1st of January.  I have been in contact with the Topaz Lodge in regards to the 2019 fishing derby.  I will have that information in a future report as soon as I get the information. The lake level has started to rise a little and should continue up to opening day.

The NDOW has planted the Wilson Canyon area last week with nice catchable rainbow trout. They are a strain of diploid trout.

Strong Bites on Tahoe

More fall colors today with some being Rainbow, Brown, and Laker grey to gold! Mixed in awesome sunrise! We couldn’t ask for stronger bite today and yes we let go a good number too for the catch and release guys.

Topaz Canal Fishing Report 10-26-18

Kyle Blanchard of Virginia City and Harrison Collins were out at Topaz Lake fishing in the canal on October 26th. Harrison landed on this brown and Kyle caught the bass on a spinner. Kyle says that there are a ton of bass out there right now and some Rainbows and Browns. It appears that the Smallmouth Bass are taking over.
