Fishing has Been Excellent with Flows Closer to Normal

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
It’s really been an up and down season for the Carson, primarily being up.  Flows remained pretty high till the end of June keeping much of the fishing limited.  Since then, fishing has been excellent with flows closer to normal fall levels now.  The parks and bridges where stocking occurs has definitely been the most consistent option.  Bait fisherman using light lines and leaders drifting

Carson River Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
The Nevada side of the Carson River is open all year to fishing.  The water level is low but a few anglers have caught some small rainbows off the broken dam using salmon eggs and a split shot.

Lake Tahoe Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
The fishing was a little slow with the full moon.  Anglers have been getting 3-10 fish per trip. Gene St Denis reported he has been catching mackinaw in the 3 to 6 pound class.  He has also caught a few rainbows in the 4 to 5 pound class.  The fish have been healthy and fat. Best areas have been the Tahoe shelf or Camp Richardson.

Mike Nielson of Tahoe Topliners checked in today with a great start to the day.

Fishing has Been Good this Season and it will Pick-Up

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has been good this season and it will pick-up with the cooler temps on the way. Recently, burnt orange leech and sheep creek specials slowly retrieved on sinking or sink tip lines have been the best bet.  Fish will likely spend more time in the shallows and on the surface with the season change.  Small terrestrials and midge patterns will likely draw a strike

Nice Maks!

by MIKE NIELSEN
Captain Mike Nielsen checked in.  Early morning fall fish fiesta today!

With dense vegetation spanning over 300 acres, the iconic Spooner Lake portion of Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park is increasingly susceptible to environmental disturbances threatening the health of the Tahoe Basin. State officials from forestry, parks and lands announced Thursday the closure of the Spooner Lake portion of Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park from Sept. 12 to Nov. 16 to address forest health issues. The Nevada

Early Morning Rapalas or Thomas Buoyants

by DOUG BUSEY
Water level is way down.  For boaters, watch those willow bushes on the north end.  They are just visible above the water line.  Make sure to keep an eye on the depth finder as those places you fished a month ago, are at least 10 feet shallower.  Early morning Rapalas or Thomas Buoyants have been producing fish. Flasher and a worm have also been productive.

Lake Tahoe Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Mackinaw Lake Trout fishing has been very, very, Tough to great depending on the Day.  We are fishing in 80 to 160 feet right now with Dodgers and Minnows or Flashers and minnows.  Bouncing bottom has been effective as they have begun to spawn and are territorial.  Bites are pecks or nips and 90 percent of them spit the hook upon netting. They are stuffed

Spooner Lake Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Located on top of Highway 50 between Carson City and Lake Tahoe. Samantha Duarte and her father Phil Duarte from Dayton NV fished the lake with great success.  Well for Samantha it was, she caught her limit of rainbow trout.  Phil did not tell me how many he caught, I have feeling he was to busy teaching, and just enjoying the moment. But what better

Mid Teener that Pulled Hard!!

by MIKE NIELSEN
Catch and release day aside from three I kept for friends. Ran across to north side for fair action early then bite faded so we came back south. Got into quick flurry that included this mid teener that pulled hard!! Still smoky but dead calm out there!

The Fishing is Good in the Mornings!

by MATT KOLES
A tad cooler, but still hot, and some days lots of smoke on the Truckee River. Sad for communities affected by the fires. I think most of Northern California is under a blanket of smoke. Some days are better than others in the Tahoe/ Reno area depending on which way the winds are blowing. The fishing is good in the mornings on the Truckee River. Crayfish, stones,

Bite is Strong!

The Big Fish Barrage Continued Yesterday!

by FISH REPORTS STAFF
The big Fish barrage continued yesterday.  When lunker hunting 1-3 bites is good. We got 5 on and got the first 3.  A 13 lb released a 3 lb Rainbow then a 16 lb Laker that was taken for dinner.  Stretch em down and tight.  These things are pulling good as they are herding balls of Kokanee and chubs against structure!

Poles Were Dancing Early!

by MIKE NIELSEN
Poles were dancing early then we looked for Kokanee but got call from a buddy that got a 20 lb, 13 lb, 9 lb and 5 lb fish I pulled lines and bolted to the location. Im not one to chase radio fish or another’s action but glad I did today because as soon as we dunked lines we stretched tight on this lunker! Few pics
