The lake level  is slowly rising at about 3-6 inches a week. The Douglas County boat ramp is open and has only the middle dock in right now. Angler Report for Topaz Lake, Monday the 23rd: Caught 12 trout while trolling Rapalas. Fish weighed up to 3+ pounds.

Sam checked in with a new report from Topaz Lake. He was fishing on Friday the 13th and got out in the morning before the wind picked up. It was a nice day, with 7 fish landed, the largest weighing 3.4 pounds. He trolled Rapalas in hot steel and black/ gold colors, which were producing well. Eagles were also spotted in the area.

The lake level has been going up a foot oor so each week due to the runoff from the Walker River. But compared to last year at this time, the level is down about 8 to 10 feet.  Fishing has been doing well for trollers using flashers  and a crawler or a small spoon. I talked with a couple anglers that caught some nice rainbows

Sam checked in with us from a trip to Topaz Lake: Made a trip to Topaz on November 8th  and enjoyed success with beautiful, calm weather. We got six fish today on Rapalas (5 rainbow, 1 cutthroat or bow/cutt). Not too sure which, but definitely not a rainbow. Also got to view a pair of bald eagles in a west shore tree. Fun trip. 

The lake level has been going down about a foot a week, it is down 8 feet from this time last year. NDOW has recently planted the lake with 6400 lbs of trout. Fishing has been fair at Spooner for bait and fly anglers. Shore access should improve as we move closer to winter. As nighttime temps fall below freezing the shoreline vegetation should thin  out. Boats or float tubes fishing is the best way to get out past the vegetation and deeper water. Salmon eggs and baby crawlers under a bobber should entice the occasional trout, but

The Carson is down to typical fall levels and fishing well. Small spinners seem to be the best bet for the remining planters around broken dam. Fly fisherman are finding a few trout on small streamers and small nymphs on light tippets. Some surface activity has been reported early an late in the day.

Renee and I fished the lake starting at 6AM and finished around 1130 AM, as the heat was getting mighty arid in an open boat. We fished the westside with 2 hits. Then tried the south end with 1 snag.
