Fishing has been productive all day but will likely shift to early and late with

Topaz Lake Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake is now within a few feet of being full. The Douglas County Park launch facility is open, with a little caution. The east dock is under water about a foot. They do have a buoy to mark the end of the dock for safety. For large boats use the west dock and small vessels use the middle dock. You will have to turn

The lake level is high

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level is high. The Douglas County park is open for camping. The boat ramp is open, but I would advise deeper boats on the east side and smaller on the west. The middle ramp was submerged last week. Fishing was slow for the first hour or so. I had to do some traveling to find the fish. The west side was most productive

The water level is high and clear. The Douglas County park is open for camping and boat launching. All three ramps have been adjusted to be utilized. The river is running low and is open all year with no gear restrictions. Best areas would be on the south end of Gardnerville by the broken dam.

The lake level is still up and the water is mostly clear

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level is still up and the water is mostly clear. I fished this week for a few hours and ran into a little green slime on the North end. Nothing to mess up your line or get stuck in your prop.  I fished from 9am to about 130pm. I boated 9 catchable rainbows and kept one in the 3 lb range. Most of

The lake level has dropped a few feet over the last few weeks. The NDOW has planted 10K ponds of catchable trout over the last month. Fishing has been good for boaters using Rapalas or flashers and a crawler. I would also try a Roostertail or Panther Martin spinner about 100 ft behind the boat on monofilament. Now make sure you use a ball bearing

The lake level has been fluctuating

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level has been fluctuating, it has gone down a couple feet in the last week. I spoke with a park ranger that told me he has been trying to adjust the boat ramps to keep up with the fluctuation. For larger boats, I recommend using the outside ramps. I fished last weekend for a few hours. Trolled most of the lake to get
