Nymphing Has Been The Best Ticket

by JIM AKENSON
The ranch is still fishing pretty well, lots of nice fish being caught down there, some up to around 24 inches. Nymphing has been the best ticket but we have had a couple good dry/dropper reports, mostly the fish were taking the dropper but occasionally the chubby or stimulator on top. Typically this is a good time of the year to fish streamers like a

Typically it will fish similar to the CA side this time of the year

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
We had a few cancellations on the ranch this week so didn’t get many reports from down there, however, typically it will fish similar to the California side this time of the year with the exception that you can usually get away with larger flies and often you can do better with dry/dropper rigs. That being said I would be packing some chubby chernobyls, stimulators

The Ranch Fished Well Earlier This Week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch fished well earlier in the week but there hasn’t been anyone out there for the last several days. They were still hitting some stonefly nymphs as well as some good topwater action with stimulators and chubby Chernobyl’s. With the streamer action opening up on the Cali side I’d expect there to be some good streamer action on the ranch as well.

The Ranch is Kicking Out Some Nice Fish

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is still kicking out some very nice fish, lots of browns and rainbows in the 14 to 20 inch range with some fish up to around 24 inches. Stonefly nymphs and adult stone patterns are still the best thing going down there. The flows on the river are still pretty low at around 45 cfs so it’s important to find the deeper pools

Fishing Very Well These Days

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The Sceirine is still fishing very well these days, lots of nice browns and some rainbows being caught down there. They’re still taking stones and midge patterns much like the Rosachi section. Not much news on streamers but again, they should be getting on those pretty soon.

The Silver Springs boat ramp is officially open for the season

by LAHONTAN STATE RECREATION AREA
The Silver Springs boat ramp is officially open for the season! Please be aware that the reservoir is at approximately 130,000 acre feet full, which equates to a 60% capacity. This means there is still the potential for navigational hazards due to the low water level. We predict that the reservoir level is not likely to increase much above this. Please enjoy boating safely. Make

The Sceirine is fishing well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The Sceirine is fishing well with lots of nice 14 to 20 inch fish being caught there. Most of the action is nymphing with some dry/dropper hook-ups thrown in as well. We haven’t heard any news about streamers yet but with the warmer weather the streamer action should pick up. If you want to book some time on the ranch give us a call and

The Ranch is Still Fishing Pretty Well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is still fishing pretty well, like the Rosachi the best time seems to be mid-day. The river is running about 61 cfs right now. With the California side being closed now we’re getting quite a few reservations for the Sceirine so if you want to book some time down there try to call as much ahead as you can. The same fly patterns

East Walker is Fishing Pretty Well Lately

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The Nevada side of the EW is fishing pretty well lately, we’ve had some good reports from the Rosachi section this past week, haven’t heard anything about the Elbow section though. Most of the anglers we’ve spoken with have had their best success from about 10am to around 3 pm lately. There has been some good fish up to nearly 20 inches being caught. Most

Conditions Should Remain Good Through Spring

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Early spring flows on the Carson are about 150 cfs and fishing has been good. Conditions should remain this way until we really heat up and start to see some snow melt. Fly fisherman using small streamer have done equally as well. . Spin fisherman using small spinners retrieved in deeper pools have caught a few good fish. As temperatures continue to drop, the trout

Fishing is Just Starting to Pick Up

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has just started to pick up. With the warmer weather and good overall water conditions we should see this place fish great this spring and summer. Until it really fires up, spin fisherman using white jigs and small spinners are finding a few fish along sandy beaches. Slow moving lures and flies will catch more fish until the water temperatures climb a little. Fishing

Flows Will Play A Big Part on How Well The River Fishes Over The Next Month

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Flows have been up much higher than the typical winter trickle this year. Although anchor ice has been an issue in some areas, anglers willing to search a little are finding some good productive water. Overall, fish seem to be holding low in the deeper pools but as insect life picks up and spring creeps in, there should be a few rising fish to cast

Hinkson Slough is Fishing Very Well

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Hinkson Slough is fishing very well. Mason Valley continues to stock the water and anglers are reporting fish up to 18 inches. Fly fisherman using the typical small midge pupa retrieved near the bottom or under the indicator have done well. Small leech patterns retrieved on intermediate lines are also a good bet here for the spring. As we warm up and the bass at

Starting to Get Some Traffic at The Ranch

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The Ranch is starting to get a bit of traffic lately, we’ve had a few reports come back that have been pretty good. It seems as though the fish arent getting too active until later in the day, maybe around 11 am or so, but after that time things warm up a bit and the fishing has been good. They’re eating stonefly nymphs as well

Fishing on The Nevada Side Has Been Really Good Lately

by RENO FLY FISHING OUTFITTERS
Fishing on the Nevada side of the East Walker has been really good lately. The warmer weather we have had has freed the river from any anchor ice and access is great. Fish are active and happy. The water is really low at 20 CFS and is the only downside to fishing right now. The flows have remained at this level for weeks now and
