Fishing has slowed at Lahontan with the extreme cold. Spin fisherman using white jigs and small spinners are finding a few fish along sandy beaches.

Flows Are Down to Winter Rates

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Flows are down to winter rates on the EW. Although anchor ice has become an issue in some areas, anglers willing to search a little are finding some productive water. Fish seem to be holding low in the deeper pools but as insect life picks up, there should be a few rising fish to cast at. Weather and temperatures will play a big part in

Closed to Fishing For The Season

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Mason Valley closed to fishing September 30th

Walker River Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
The area between Wellington and Yerinton has been producing some good fishing. You will have to do some walking to get to the heavier waters. I would recommend a small spinner  on the casting pole, or a  copper jon on the fly rod.

Most Of The Fish Are Being Caught on Nymphs

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is still kicking out some very nice fish as well, lots of fish in the 14 to 18 inch range lately, again, most of the fish are being caught on nymphs but there are some good dry and dry/dropper evenings some days. We’ve also had some fish being caught with streamers down there like dead drift crayfish, zuddlers and moal leeches.

The Ranch is Still Fishing Well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is also still fishing well, dry/dropper rigs have been working very well down there as well as some good streamer action in the mornings and of course good nymph action throughout the day. Give us a call ahead of time if you’d like to book some time on the ranch.

The Ranch is Fishing Pretty Well These Days

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The Ranch is also fishing pretty well these days with some very good dry/dropper days as well as some good nymphing days. With the cooler water temperatures the fish are very happy and healthy with lots of browns and good numbers of rainbows being caught down there. Give us a call ahead of time if you want to book some time on the ranch.

The Ranch is Fishign Well This Week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is still fishing well with most of the same patterns as the Cali side, they’re also eating some soft hackles, dark lords and even some stonefly nymphs still down there. We’ve been getting quite a few bookings down there lately so if you want to reserve some time try to get it booked in advance if you can.

Heading Into Fall

by MATT KOLES
Heading into Fall. Summer ain’t got much left. Fishing is good on the Truckee River. Flows have got real skinny above Boca. Below Boca and down through Nevada, flows are about just right for Fall. The whole lower river is fishing very good. Cool to cold nights, warm afternoons, and a pretty good bite throughout the day. Fish softer water early when it’s cold, fish the faster water

Decent Reports From Sceirine This Past Week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
We’ve had some decent reports from the Sceirine this past week as well, again, the water clarity is a slight issue but it hasn’t slowed the fishing down too much. Like the California side, it’s mainly nymphing with soft hackles, pheasant tails, copper johns, San Juan worms, squirmy wormy. We have had a couple anglers still picking up some fish with hopper and hopper/dropper rigs

Sceirine Ranch is Fishing Pretty Well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The Sceirine is still fishing pretty well, there’s been some good hopper and hopper/dropper action as well as good nymphing. The flows are still decent at about 93 cfs and the water temperatures have dropped a bit this past week. Some of the patterns that have been good this past week include parachute hopper, chubby Chernobyl, madam x, prince nymph, soft hackle, san juan worm, squirmy

The Ranch Fished Pretty Well This Past Week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch also fished pretty well this past week though we only had a few clients on the water there. There were some pretty good hopper/dropper reports as well as a few fish caught with crawdad streamers. Anglers seemed however to do the best with small caddis nymphs and midges.

Fishing Pretty Well This Week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The Sceirine fish pretty well this week with some very good hopper/dropper action going on, chubby chernobyl’s and para hoppers with nymph droppers produced well for several anglers as well as a few fish being caught on dead drift crayfish. Mornings and evenings are still a good bet down there, just like the California side.

Ranch Section Best in The Mornings & Evenings

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
As with the California side of the river, the ranch section is definitely best in the mornings and evenings. Anglers have reported having really good action from about 6 in the morning until around 9:30 or so when the fish seemed to just shut off. I’m sure it’s possible to get into some fish during the day but the action will be significantly less than

Good Numbers of Trout Still Being Caught

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has been surprisingly good for this time of year, good numbers of trout still being caught, mostly hatchery rainbows but a few large wild browns have been reported also.

Hinkson is Fishing Well

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Hinkson is fishing well for Largemouth, trout fishing has slowed with the hot temperatures. North pond has been drained for a fish habitat rehabilitation project, FCCP is getting better for Largemouth.

The Ranch is Having A Tough Time Fishing This Week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The Ranch is also having tougher fishing with the warmer weather like the California side. There are fish being caught, just not as many as we’d sometimes like. We did have a few anglers report that the action was very good in the morning but as the day wore on the fishing slowed a lot. As with the California side, it’s best to get out

River Flows Are Prime For This Time of Year

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Flows on the Carson are about 125cfs and fishing has been good but crowded in the usual haunts. River flows are prime for this time of year. Spin fisherman using spinners and spoons for trout in deeper pools have caught some good fish recently. Fly fisherman moving small streamers through deeper water have caught some really healthy fish recently. Larger stonefly nymphs paired with small

Evenings Remain Best For Fishing

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
White bass can be found along most of the sandy beaches throughout the day but the evenings remain best. Walleye and smallmouth bass have shown up near rocky shoreline and deep structure along the shore. Structure and ledges are key when looking for the larger fish. Spin fisherman are doing very well with small spoons, bright kastmasters, and spinners. Worms just off the bottom have

East Walker River Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The East Walker River flows are currently at 250cfs and a little high with water demands downstream. Flows will start to come when night time lows start to fall and fishing will just improve. Please keep in mind that many of the easy to access areas have been busy so you may need to walk a little to find some open water away from others.

Fishing For Bass in Hinkson Has Been Fair

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has been fair at Hinkson for bass. Bass can be found early and late in the day right next to shoreline vegetation and other structure. In addition to the bass, a few trout are still being caught really early and late in the day. Poppers and mice patterns on the surface can be good near the shore and along the tulles. Spin fisherman bouncing

Ranch Fished A Little Tougher This Week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch fished a little tougher for some anglers as well this week, it’s probably getting to the time of the year when it’s best to just do a half day, either in the morning or a late session in the evening. The same patterns that are working on the California side will work on the ranch this time of year. I’d expect just 4

Nymphing is Working The Best

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
We had several clients on the ranch this week who had pretty good days as well as a few that struggled a bit. Nymphing still seemed to be the best bet for hook-ups though they didn’t seem to want to eat any stonefly nymphs from what we heard. They did like some copper johns, soft hackles, pheasant tails and squirmy wormy’s though. There didn’t seem
