Lyon County Fish Reports

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
We had only one client on the ranch this past week and he was able to do very well on the lower section with small nymphs and san juan worms. The streamer fishing was not successful and most of his fish came on the red san juan. On most of the river right now including the California side it's important to fish the seams and

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
The Ranch fished a little tougher this past week, probably due to the crazy weather fluctuations as well as the water flows changing several time. Streamers are still producing some nice fish as well as nymphs and midges. The higher flows have slowed the dry/dropper action a bit. The patterns that are listed above should also do the trick on the Ranch.

Sceirine Ranch Report

by WALKER RIVER OUTFITTERS
Here's a few nice browns and rainbows Greg Ratto landed on the Sceirine Ranch while fishing with Andrew Sears of Walker River Outfitters, Andrew said most of the fish Greg caught were on dries!!

Flows are High

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Upper Carson River has not been stocked yet, spring flows are still high, as flows drop stocking will commence and fishing should pick up after that. Very low water conditions. Very few places to fish.

Carp Good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Lahontan did not go dry in 2015 but it came close. Fish did survive and water is being directed in to the reservoir. It remains to be seen how good fishing will be this spring because of the effects of the drought. If you like fishing for carp, this is the place to go to get some nicely sized carp. No good reports from Lahontan

Brown Trout Picking Up

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The East Walker River is very low (31 c.f.s to begin April) and very clear. The fish truck has visited this river. Fish in the spring because there is no guarantee that the river will fishable past late spring or early summer. Check the regulations for rules governing fishing on the East Walker. EWR fishing starting to pick up for wild brown trout.

Trout Fishing is Good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Trout fishing should be good with the cool spring temps. Bass fishing will pick up later this spring and should provide great opportunity fishing throughout the summer.

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
We've had several clients on the Ranch this past week though not all of them offered reports on the fishing. The ones who did give us a call with reports did very well down there, lots of fish in the 16 to 20 inch range, mostly on nymphs. Seems the best patterns this week were san juan worms, zebra midge, rainbow warrior and ice nymphs.

Excellent

by JIM REID
The Sceirine has been fishing excellent this past week, we've had several clients on the ranch over the last 4 or 5 days and all of them have done very well. Lots of browns in the 16 to 20 inch range being landed as well as a handful of rainbows in the same size range making a showing. The fish are very healthy and

Good Fishing

by JIM REID
We had a couple really great reports from the ranch this week, lots of fish reported in the 12 to 16 inch range with a few in the 16 to 20 inch range as well. Nymphing has been the best with zebra midges, flashback emergers and san juan worms! If you want to reserve some time on the river just give us a call!

40 cfs

by JIM REID
The East is still running at 40 cfs right now and we've started getting more good reports from the river, both on the Cali and Nevada sides. I wouldn't say the fishing is easy but if you have your drifts down and put your time in you should be able to get into some nice fish. Most of the fish being reported are in the

by JIM REID
The Ranch has been fishing about the same as the rest of the river on both sides of the state line, most of the fish are in the 16 to 20 inch range as well. Mostly small nymphs and a little streamer action.
