Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
The ranch fished a little tough this week with some nice fish in the 20" range making an appearance but very few of them. The fish we did hear about were being caught on caddis nymphs and small midge patterns. I'd look forward to the weather cooling even more over the next couple weeks and the fishing on both sides of the state line improving.

The ranch is still fishing pretty well in spite of the warmer weather we've been having, there's lots of fish in the 12 to 17 inch range being caught as well as some up to 21 or 22 inches. Small caddis nymphs, midges and san juan worms have been doing the best.

East Carson due for a plant, West too low

by NOR CAL FISH REPORTS
Alpine County Fish & Game will plant the East Carson with two loads of 1,800 pounds of trout before Labor Day. Trout bite has been on the slow side. West Fork is very low and may be too low and warm to take a plant. Creekside Lodge (530) 694-2511

The anglers we've had on the ranch this week have done very well for some really nice browns and a few rainbows. There's very little pressure on the ranch lately so this probably adds to the success rate. San juan worms, dark lords and rainbow warriors seem to be the best patterns going lately.

Sceirine Ranch Report

by JIM REID
The ranch is still hanging in there though some anglers are reporting having to change flies multiple times before figuring out what the fish want to eat. As with the Cali side you'll need to be stealthy and try not to spook fish before you have a chance to run a fly by them a few times. There are some smaller fish being caught but

by NOR CAL FISH REPORTS
Water has cleared in the East Fork and trout bite is solid on both the east and west forks of the Carson. Creekside Lodge (530) 694-2511

Sceirine Ranch Report

by JIM REID
The ranch has fished about the same as the lower Cali section and the Rosachi this past week, most anglers are reporting 2 to 5 fish per half day with most of them being over 17 inches or so. Add to the list of flies above some stonefly nymphs and you'll be set.

Alpine County Fish & Game planted trout last Wednesday. Both the east and west forks received 900 pounds of fish. West is fishing well. East has been muddy due to daily rain. Creekside Lodge (530) 694-2511

We've had several clients on the ranch this week but unfortunately they haven't been able to return with any reports. Typically the water temps are a few degrees cooler on the ranch so this should make the fishing as good as or better than the warmer parts of the river. Still lots of caddis down there as well as pmd's, bwo's and even a few

Fire bedevils Carson River area

by NOR CAL FISH REPORTS
East Fork is closed to anglers because of a wild fire. West Fork is open but fishing is poor. Creekside Lodge (530) 694-2511.

The Sceirine is still fishing well also. The water temps are a little lower on the ranch due to several springs that enter the river on the property. Patterns to take to the ranch are the same as the ones listed above.

The anglers we've had on the ranch this past week have done really well, sounds like the fox's poopah in tan is the go too fly right now. There's also been some good action on chubby chernobyl's, madam x's, rainbow warrior, buckskin caddis and san juan worms.
