Lyon County Fish Reports

Flows are perfect and the fishing has been awesome on the East Carson

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
The flows on the East Carson River are down to 225 CFS. The flows have not dropped too much over the past week. As they start to stabilize the fishing should only get better. The flows are perfect and the fishing has been awesome. They have stocked the upper section and they have really spread out. Some fish up to 18 inches or better. There

Very good fishing on the Sceirine

by JIM REID
The Sceirine has been fishing very well also, there's lots of 20+ inch fish being caught down there each day. Stones, birds nests, pt's and the like have been good, as well as dry/dropper rigs with a big chubby chernobyl or madam-x on top and a nymph on the dropper.

Sceirine Ranch is producing lots of 20 inch fish these days

by JIM REID
The ranch has fished very well this weekend, lots of fish over 20 inches coming out to play. Chubby chernobyls, stoneflies, dark lords, dead drift crayfish have been working well along with various midge and caddis nymph patterns. Now that the flows are lower the ranch is getting booked up a week or more in advance so give a call ahead of time if you

The East Carson is still high and fishing should improve as the water level drops

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
Flows are down to 501 CFS. The East Carson is the closest thing we have to a freestone river in our area. What that means is there is not much control on the flows. Most of the water in the East Carson comes from creeks, springs and natural run off. More of the snowpack is gone now and the East Carson should continue to gradually

The Ranch is fishing very well with the lower flows

by JIM REID
The ranch is fishing excellent with this lower flow, most of the same patterns that work on the California side will work on the ranch as well. We've also had some good reports on dead drift crawfish, birds nest, and dry/dropper rigs with a chubby chernobyl on top and a nymph or two dropper.

Sceirine produced a lot of 18 to 22 inch fish this week

by JIM REID
The ranch has fished well this past week, lots of real quality fish in the 18 to 22 inch range. Nymphs like Weir's caddis pupa, birds nest, zebra midge, flashback emerger, copper john and pheasant tails have all been working.

The Flows are down on the Ranch and it is really fishing well

by JIM REID
We've had several clients on the Sceirine this week and all have done well. Now that the flows are down a bit the ranch is much easier to fish, and there's lots of nice fish hanging out there. Caddis nymphs, and midges just like the Cali side have been doing well, also birds nest, princes and dark lords have been good.

East Carson Flows are at 1140 cfs -- 'Nuff Said

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
Flows have been off the charts. They are currently at 1140 CFS but they are coming down daily. It should be a couple more weeks before the run-off settles down and the East Carson becomes fishable.

The flows are still up at Sceirine Ranch but they are getting better

by JIM REID
The ranch has been fishing OK with the slightly lower flows, same as the Cali side you need to fish the softer water to have some success. As the flows come down the ranch should keep getting better and better!

No Anglers at Sceirine Ranch this week

by JIM REID
The ranch hasn't had any clients on it this week, like the California side, it'll be a matter of picking your water carefully and trying to fish the calmer areas.

East Carson River Fishing Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
Flows are 105 CFS. Great flows for this time of year. The access is going to be the biggest issue as the snowpack starts to pile up. If you are going to go the East Carson now would be a good idea. Nymphing with very small nymphs like as on the East Carson is a good way to start.

East Carson River Fishing Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
The East Carson will be affected by the rains more than any of the other area rivers. The flows have gone from 42 CFS to 108 CFS in the last couple of days. Look for them to keep going up for a few more days and then hopefully settle out next week. As the flows start to come back down the water should clear up

East Carson River Fishing Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
Flows are down to 66 CFS. This is actually really good for this time of year. There have been a lot of fish caught on dry flies over the past week. Hoppers are still working as are orange stimulators which is usually used as an October Caddis imitation. Trico nymphs which are just anything very small and black are catching fish subsurface and can be

East Carson River Fishing Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
This is normal for this time of year and just about perfect. The hoppers are starting to show here as well. Hopper dropper set-ups are the way to go as we get into the fall and lower water levels. As the water gets lower a more stealthy approach is also going to be necessary. Make sure you drift the edges and the shallows before marching

East Carson River Fishing Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
The flows are dropping fast. On Tuesday morning they were 126 CFS. This is the time to go before the water gets really low. Hopper Dropper set-ups have been working well. You can use the same type of bugs as in the East Walker report. Mornings and evenings have been best. There has also been a Caddis and Little Yellow Stone hatch in the evenings

East Carson River Fishing Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
Flows are up to 1300 CFS. They have gone up and down over the past few weeks due to changing weather conditions. The air temps are only getting warmer so look for the flows to remain in the unfishable range for at least another week or so.

East Carson Fish Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
Runoff has the East Carson at unfishable levels at 1230 CFS. Wait at least a couple of weeks or more and check the reports again.

East Carson River Fish Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
Flows are fluctuating daily due to run off. Colder weather over the next week should help a bit but it is only a matter of a week or so until the East Carson starts to yo-yo up and down until the snow melts. The best fishing on the East Carson will be after the runoff and the river comes back down to fishable levels. Keep

East Carson River Fishing Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
The East Carson River is the most susceptible river in our area to run-off. The flows are currently 131 CFS, but they have been really going up and down. With the air temps headed for the 60\'s this week, the East Carson will likely be un-fishable. The best fishing on the East Carson is on the back side of the run-off. This year that is

East Carson River Fish Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
Flows are down to 54 cfs and dropping. The dry fly fishing is phenomenal right now. Big dries are catching fish all over. Stimulator, hoppers, stoneflies and just about any dry in the size 8 to 12 size frame are worth a shot. The water is crystal clear and the bigger fish are hard to fool but the smaller fish are chowing. You can use
