The county planted 900 pounds last Friday and the state planted last Wednesday. Missy and Shirley at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750): A 10-pound, 5-ounce Walleye on Saturday, a 5-pound Walleye on Saturday at Beach No. 3, and some young kids with toy-like fishing poles caught 22 fish at Beach No. 7.

Elmer Bull of Yerington reported he and his family had fairly good action on Saturday afternoon at Beach No. 6 with live minnows and worms, dragged slowly along the bottom. They caught some walleye, a 12-inch crappie (on a sinking Rapala lure) and lots of small white bass.

Todd Sodaro and Chad Machado of the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229): The water is dropping a little but it is hanging tough. DF&G will be planting later this week, probably on Thursday. David Lopez of Martinez caught a 4.3 pound rainbow on Salmon eggs on July 7 and Rodney Reynaldo of Gilroy caught a 3 pound rainbow on Power Bait on July 5.

Hinkson Slough has been picking up lately with good action all day. Midge patterns and wooly buggers have been working. Sheep creek patterns have worked well according to local angler Chuck Hone. There has also been some bass success using spinner baits.

Whiper Bass and White Bass fishing have been excellent almost anywhere in the lake. Beach 6 has been the most productive, but don't limit yourself. Any lure, buzz bait, spinner bait or jig will work. Move the lure across the bottom. Casting area should have aquatic vegetation or brushy cover. The narrows of the lake fished well for Wallleye according to Kim Tisdale, Western Region

Fort Churchill ponds have been fishing slowly since the warm whether try early in the morning and late evening for the bass. Slow retrieve with rubber baits have been most effective.

Don Hettrick and Don Quilici of Carson City, plus Rich Bachle of Fernley trolled in "The Narrows" last Thursday. They caught and released several hundred small White Bass and one Sacramento Perch. The fish were hitting any lure that looked like a small fish.
