Got the day started and things were not going as normal. Tangles, lost fish. Less bites. DO WE HAVE BANANAS GUYS? Yep you want one. Yes can I see them all. Shorter days colder mornings and fewer anglers on the river. Fall is here! The cooler nights have made for a longer window mid-morning. While mostly nymphing, anglers are still finding good opportunities with dries using caddis, BWO’s, PMD’s and hoppers mid-day. The lake level has come down a few feet. Boaters have been doing good in the early morning hours with Rapalas or flashers and a worm. As the sun gets higher, the bite tapers off. Last big weekend of the summer on the Truckee River. After this weekend, and after the burners leave, we’ll have the place to ourselves for awhile. Burners, ugh. Much hotter this past week on the Truckee River. Been about 90’s all week in the Hirsch. Flows have been steady and the fishing is good in the mornings. Summer wants to hold on for a bit longer.
