Ditched The Bananas To Land Limits

by MIKE NIELSEN
Got the day started and things were not going as normal. Tangles, lost fish. Less bites. DO WE HAVE BANANAS GUYS? Yep you want one. Yes can I see them all. Promptly sent them swimming and went from one fish first hour and half to near full limits until the folks called it good. Good comeback and NO BANANAS

Fall is Here on The Truckee

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Shorter days colder mornings and fewer anglers on the river. Fall is here! The cooler nights have made for a longer window mid-morning. While mostly nymphing, anglers are still finding good opportunities with dries using caddis, BWO’s, PMD’s and hoppers mid-day. We expect the streamer bite to pick up in the following weeks as temps continue to drop making fish more willing to chase a

Shore Fishing Has Been Fair For Anglers

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level has come down a few feet. Boaters have been doing good in the early morning hours with Rapalas or flashers and a worm. As the sun gets higher, the bite tapers off. I fished a couple weeks ago with fellow angler and friend Arnie Phelan from Carson City. We started out at day break, took us a half hour or so to

Less Like Summer and More Like Fall

by MATT KOLES
Much cooler the last few days. High’s in the 60’s, colder overnight. Not too hot in Reno either. Reno hit 100 degrees for 4 minutes this summer. They had 20 days over 100 the summer before. That all means we can look forward to some good fall fishing from here on out on the Truckee River. Flows have been bumped down a bit. 500 here in

Last Big Week of The Summer

by MATT KOLES
Last big weekend of the summer on the Truckee River. After this weekend, and after the burners leave, we’ll have the place to ourselves for awhile. Burners, ugh. Pretty warm out still in the afternoons, and looking like that for the next week. Typical late summer weather pattern for us. Cool too cold at night, and hot in the afternoons. Hirschdale is less than 15 miles from

by MATT KOLES
Much hotter this past week on the Truckee River. Been about 90’s all week in the Hirsch. Flows have been steady and the fishing is good in the mornings. Summer wants to hold on for a bit longer. Nice and cool in the mornings, despite the warm afternoons. Fall will be here in a minute. Mainly thinking about that. Mainly thinking about streamer fishing. Less folks out

Flows Have Remained Consistent

by RENO FLY SHOP
Flows have remained consistent around 530 since our last report. We did have a nice cool down of the river last week, but with higher temperatures in the forecast again water temperatures are an issue to be aware of. With that said, fishing has been really good! Golden stones have finally made their entrance into our watershed, and fish are responding to them. Crawdads are

Lake Level is Coming Down

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level has been coming down over the last couple weeks. Shore fishing has been fair for early morning anglers using inflated night crawlers or green or rainbow powerbait. Trollers have done well with blades and a worm in 20 to 35 feet of water. Rapalas have been successful in the earlier morning hours. As the sun rises the waters temps go up and
