Spring is here

by PYRAMID LAKE FLY FISHING
Spring is here. Look at the weather going forward and you will see warm, warm, warm. May is a month at the lake that is traditionally very tough. Even with the new techniques we are using it is tough. You have to have the weather. Wind, clouds, rain, whatever. If it is golfing weather, go play golf. Fish the first hour of the day for

Wow, what an absolutely incredible season it was for Pyramid Lake

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
As we head into the very tail end of the season out here, this will be our last report on the “Big Salty Pond” for the year. Wow, what an absolutely incredible season it was for Pyramid Lake. The amount of large fish seen this year was unprecedented and we feel it’s important to give a huge shout out to the Pyramid Lake Piute Tribe for

We are in the rollercoaster ride of spring flows right now

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
We are in the rollercoaster ride of spring flows right now, seeing flows fluctuate 50-100 CFS any given day. These flows are peaking in the afternoon and dipping to their lowest points in the middle of the night. This is typical of any freestone this time of year and the fish know the routine, not often missing a beat to feed during these months. In

The LCT have another spawn in the books

by RENO FLY SHOP
The LCT have another spawn in the books, and even though we are still seeing shallow cruising fish, a lot of fish are returning to deeper water and actively feeding in deeper water. The last week, with its cold storm, has shocked the fish some, but with a return to seasonal temperatures next week the LCT should return to their normal behavior.  The surface temps before

The Truckee River has hovered around 600-700cfs at the Reno gauge over the last few weeks

by RENO FLY SHOP
The Truckee River has hovered around 600-700cfs at the Reno gauge over the last few weeks and finally jumped over 800 overnight. Fishing has remained good on the Nevada side and should continue to do so. With warmer air temperatures, the river will likely come up in flow and turbidity will increase as a result of low elevation snow melt.  There are a variety of bugs moving

The lake level is rising very slowly

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level is rising very slowly. Fishing has been fair for those that don't give up too quickly. I recommend changing up your presentation. Colors and size does matter when fish are finicky. Some anglers have been shore fishing down past the bug station with powerbait or inflated nightcrawlers. Even in shore fishing. When fishing a floating bait. Start off with 12 inches off

Northern Nevada Bass Tournament

by NORTHERN NEVADA BASS
Hey all!! Thank you all for your response on the entry fee poll! With that I hoped everyone would think I was up to something and I have been. Between checking in on the lakes, hearing the reports you all give me, and trying to work around all the major series is tough but this is the best I could put together!!! Hopefully this works for a

Typical Spring weather on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Typical Spring weather on the Truckee River.  70's one week, 30's another. Looks to wam up this week, but another cold front next weekend.  Flows are up, but really not that high. 650 or so here in Hirschdale, and about 800 cfs out East on the lower Truckee River in Nevada. That's nothing. Clarity is rather good.  Still, fish the edges. Do not fish the middle stuff. Trouts

What a phenomenal kick off to this fishing season!!

by NORTHERN NEVADA BASS
What a phenomenal kick off to this fishing season!!! 11 teams came out to our first event on Topaz. Thank you all who participated even though the weather conditions were... well less than ideal!!   Even if the weather didn't cooperate the fish finally did!   Congratulations to Zach Steiner and Denny Goldson winning the day with 15.88!   Congratulations to Brian and Mark with Big fish of the event a

The bite at Pyramid is in a bit of a limbo right now

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The bite at Pyramid is in a bit of a limbo right now. With the majority of the fish focused on spawning they are mostly lock-jawed, at least the ones you can see. Fishing with indicators and putting it past the fish tight to the shore will better your odds by putting your flies in front of fish that may still be interested in eating.

We are seeing flows drop on the Truckee River and the snow is on the hill for just a bit longer

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
With cooler days last week the runoff has slowed. We are seeing flows drop on the Truckee River and the snow is on the hill for just a bit longer. Around Glenshire we have seen flows drop from 750 to 575 CFS in the last 7 days. At Farad they have dropped from 900 to 700 CFS. These flows will make the river easier to
