Excellent week to get out to the lake

With the biggest storm of the year pushing through the area, this is an excellent week to get out to the lake. Midges under an indicator have still been out-fishing any other fly or presentation. They will likely continue to do so until the fish migrate back into deeper water some time in late April or early May. We haven’t found the need to go

Despite this storm coming in wet to start, the temps dropped quickly. We only saw a brief increase in flows before they dropped after a few days of sub-freezing air temps. We love seeing this cold front come through, keeping the precipitation on the hill and not in the river allowing it to stay cold for that much longer during the dog days of summer.

The fishing continues to be solid at the salty pond, with good numbers of fish cruising the shorelines. Pick your favorite beach and be ready for an opportunity at a high-teen to 20lber. Cold weather with lows in the mid 20's and highs up near 40 as expected. There have been significantly more big fish caught this season than last. Indicator nymphing with Balanced Leeches

Flows on the Truckee have stabilized sitting at just under 300 at Glenshire Bridge
