Truckee River Fish Report

The Truckee is fishing great. Jan Nemic reports the upper river is producing some nice 14'' to 16'' inch fish. Shore anglers have been reporting some action where they can find open water around the aquatic vegetation that chokes the shoreline. Try using white spoons or black and yellow Panther Martins. The boats did not get out until after 10 a.m., and then, they got beat up by the wind. If you caught a couple of fish, you did well. If you caught more than a couple of fish, you did very well.

Hobart Reservoir closes on Sunday, Sept. 30

North Shore Lake Tahoe Fish Report 09-20-07

We have been trolling 80-240 feet deep. We locate the fish on the fish finder and then troll in a "Figure Eight" pattern, bouncing the bottom hard. I've been fishing at the Tahoe City Shelf and Cal-Neva. We are getting 1-9 Mackinaw per trip.

Carson River cleanup needs lots of volunteers

This is a final reminder that Saturday, Sept. 22 is the annual Carson City Kiwanis Club Carson River Cleanup. Kiwanis Club representative Ron Bowman is asking for lots of volunteers to help with the cleanup. He says that there will be more than enough to do for everyone who shows up, and would love to have as many as 150-200 volunteers on that day. Date:

It was 40 degrees this morning (Tuesday). The water is staying nice and clear. Richard Dean caught a 6.9 pound rainbow on red salmon eggs. All of our cabins were full of fly fishermen this last week.

The Truckee is really starting to pick up in both states and it looks like we,ve got a great fall season ahead of us. The best tactics have been to dea drift a variety of nymph and crayfish patterns. Fishing is really good at Knott Creek right now! Fish are being caught on a wide variety of patterns. Wooly Bugger and Leech patterns are scoring a lot of fish, especially when fished with a slow sink line. Callibaetis nymphs, Sheep Creek specials and Gold Ribbed Hares Ears are all catching fish. Try fishing midge pupa or scud imitations under an indicator during slower periods.

Mackinaw or lake trout fishing has slowed down due to possible spawn activity try jigging for best results. Some anglers have been catching rainbows trolling shallow near rock structure but be careful of shallow rock with your boat.

Fair fishing for rainbow and brown trout to 15 inches in length. Good fishing for smallmouth bass to 8-10 inch inches in length. Dark patterns work the best in the turbid water. Fishing is always good in the stream high numbers of brown trout. Be stealthy when you approach the steam there is no cover.

Good fishing has been reported for lure anglers using silver Kastmasters and Panther Martins. The down town area is fishing great according Western Region Angler Education instructor Neil Murphy.
