Western Nevada Fish Reports

Shore anglers have been reporting some action where they can find open water around the aquatic vegetation that chokes the shoreline. Try using white spoons or black and yellow Panther Martins. Dave Patula Western, Western Region Game Warden, reports good fishing as of 9/17/07 at Catnip with a couple of fly angler catching some fish over 20 inches. Most fish where reported in the 12 inch but still good steady action throughout the day. Thing should pick up as the temperatures drop. Closes November 15.

We have been trolling 80-240 feet deep. We locate the fish on the fish finder and then troll in a "Figure Eight" pattern, bouncing the bottom hard. I've been fishing at the Tahoe City Shelf and Cal-Neva. We are getting 1-9 Mackinaw per trip. Last week, we had 6 fish that were between 10 and 16 pounds.

Elmer Bull of Yerington reported that the month of September is a good time to fish for bass with either rubber worms or spinner baits.
