Fishing has been good at Hobart and busy with the heat in the Valley

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has been good at Hobart and busy with the heat in the Valley. Thanks to all of those who have been leaving angler surveys for us. Damsels and callibaetis can be seen on the water through most of the day. Fish have been taking a few ants, parachute adams, and Griffith’s gnats when the wind is down. Afternoon fishing seems to be best trolling

Trout are averaging 12-14” with a few holdovers pushing 16”

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Great fishing can be found at Onion. Heat hasn’t slowed down the fishing much yet making limits common. Trout are averaging 12-14” with a few holdovers pushing 16”. Catch and release fisherman are reporting dozens and dozens of fish caught during a full day of fishing. Salmon eggs or worms under a bobber has been very effective. Spin fisherman have been using small Panther Martins

Rye Patch Reservoir Bass Tournament

by NORTHERN NEVADA BASS
Just over a month away! Even with the low water I have been assured the lake is safe to run, and launching isn't a problem. I was asked not to cancel or reschedule so we're still going! Look for flyers to show up around you soon! Hope to see some of you there, check out our group Northern Nevada Bass Tournaments or our website Northennevadabass.com,

Still hot, but not as bad as last week on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Still hot, but not as bad as last week on the Truckee River. We’re getting some afternoon thunderstorms, cloudy and a little muggy for Tahoe. Fishing is good if you know where to look, and what water to target. What water to target is the key. It ain’t easy out there if you’re fumbling around. Some sections are better than others now. These Truckee trouts will put

The flows have begun to taper off out of Lake Tahoe

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The flows have begun to taper off out of Lake Tahoe and the dam at Tahoe City is currently releasing 234 CFS. This will likely continue to drop in the coming weeks and there are predictions that the lake will once again be below its natural rim this fall causing there to be no water coming out of the lake making the upper river go

Fish have moved into the fast water pockets for the rest of the summer

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Water Conditions The Truckee river is flowing 234 cubic feet per second out of Lake Tahoe. Water temperature is a factor in the afternoon as we are heating up to about 69 degrees by 3pm. We recommend morning fishing and check your water temperature every hour after 10 am. Trout mortality goes up in water that is warmer than 64 degrees. While not a state mandated

Attention Boaters!

by LAHONTAN STATE RECREATION AREA
Attention Boaters! The North Shore Marina Ramp has unfortunately been pulled for the season. The reservoir is currently at 88,200 acre feet and decreasing more quickly then we expected. Beach launching is still an option at your own risk. As the water continues to decrease, please be vigilant of navigational hazards that will start to become more prominent, such as submerged logs and sand bars.

The summer heat is finally upon us

by RENO FLY SHOP
The summer heat is finally upon us. After a long cool beginning to summer, the heat has caught up to us. Flows on the Truckee River are holding strong at 250 cfs through the downtown gauge, but water temps are rising above 70 degrees consistently at the Sparks gauge (the only gauge with a thermometer). We have started fishing earlier in the morning or further

The heat has finally arrived on the Truckee Rive

by MATT KOLES
It got hot. The heat has finally arrived on the Truckee River. 90 this week in Truckee, 100 in Reno. Dog days. Get out early if you want to catch fish. Afternoons will be lousy fishing. We might get a push of afternoon t-storms this week. That’ll help cool things off. We just don’t want the dry lightning. It’ll start today in Mono County, and work it’s

The lake level has come down about a foot or so over the last two weeks

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level has come down about a foot or so over the last two weeks. The water temperature was in the mid 60's. We fished last weekend from 5:30 to 10am and had on fish on with no other hits.  We tried all four corners of the lake. I talked with another angler that launched and came in at the same time we did.

Rolling through July on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Rolling through July on the Truckee River. Good solid fishing. Flows have been steady at around 450 cfs here in the Hirsch, higher near stateline, and a bit lower though Reno. We’ve had a few hot days, but still not as bad as last summer with the smoke and heat. Water temps have really not been an issue anywhere on the Ca side yet this summer. Warm

Truckee River Fishing Report

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
With daytime temps in the 80’s and 90’s for over a week now, the dog days of summer are officially here, and trout fishing will be best reserved for the mornings when water temps are at their lowest. We have been seeing the temps on the Truckee River hitting 66 around noon and this is a good target time to be off the water by

Topaz Lake Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
I ventured down to Topaz Lake last week with fellow angler Tom Blotter. We were on the lake by 6:30am and off by 11:30 am. We trolled the east and the north west shores with Rapalas. We caught and released about 18 trout all in the 1.5 to 2.5 lb category.  For those that want to do some bass fishing. The smallmouth were hitting well

Good solid fishing on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Good solid fishing on the Truckee River Can’t believe, I’d say the weather’s actually been cool. High’s barely getting into the 70’s, and it’s almost mid-July.     Gonna get hot next week, but back to around average temps after mid-week. Cool and foggy here in Hirschdale in the mornings. Weathers been a big factor in the fishing this summer. Cooler weather keeps the water temps down

Flows and water temperatures are perfect and the fish are biting!

by RENO FLY SHOP
We have been fortunate to be experiencing a mild summer so far. Flows and water temperatures are perfect and the fish are biting! Flows have been averaging 350 CFS through the downtown gauge. There are a lot of bugs the trout have to choose from. With the cooler temperatures all the hatches seem to be a little late this year. The crayfish bite is heating
