The flows have begun to taper off out of Lake Tahoe and the dam at Tahoe City is currently releasing 234 CFS. This will likely continue to drop in the coming weeks and there are predictions that the lake will once again be below its natural rim this fall causing there to be no water coming out of the lake making the upper river go

Water Conditions The Truckee river is flowing 234 cubic feet per second out of Lake Tahoe. Water temperature is a factor in the afternoon as we are heating up to about 69 degrees by 3pm. We recommend morning fishing and check your water temperature every hour after 10 am. Trout mortality goes up in water that is warmer than 64 degrees. While not a state mandated

Attention Boaters! The North Shore Marina Ramp has unfortunately been pulled for the season. The reservoir is currently at 88,200 acre feet and decreasing more quickly then we expected. Beach launching is still an option at your own risk. As the water continues to decrease, please be vigilant of navigational hazards that will start to become more prominent, such as submerged logs and sand bars.

The lake level has come down about a foot or so over the last two weeks. The water temperature was in the mid 60's. We fished last weekend from 5:30 to 10am and had on fish on with no other hits.  We tried all four corners of the lake. I talked with another angler that launched and came in at the same time we did. 

Our keepers and probably another dozen releases. Great fun!!!

Chase Howard checked in with today from fishing on the Carson River for Smallmouth Bass. He successfully catched and released this one which weighed in at 2  pounds 5 ounce. Thanks for sharing Chase!

Rolling through July on the Truckee River. Good solid fishing. Flows have been steady at around 450 cfs here in the Hirsch, higher near stateline, and a bit lower though Reno. We’ve had a few hot days, but still not as bad as last summer with the smoke and heat. Water temps have really not been an issue anywhere on the Ca side yet this summer. Warm

I ventured down to Topaz Lake last week with fellow angler Tom Blotter. We were on the lake by 6:30am and off by 11:30 am. We trolled the east and the north west shores with Rapalas. We caught and released about 18 trout all in the 1.5 to 2.5 lb category.  For those that want to do some bass fishing. The smallmouth were hitting well

Good solid fishing on the Truckee River Can’t believe, I’d say the weather’s actually been cool.
