This week the Lahontan National Fish Hatchery stocked 6,139 catchable Pilot Peak strain Lahontan cutthroat trout into Lake Tahoe. Stocking will continue weekly throughout the summer at various publicly accessible locations in both California and Nevada. Approximately 20% of the trout stocked will be tagged with a T-bar anchor tag that has a unique ID and phone number on it. Anglers are encouraged to report

Pyramid held at 93 percent of capacity, and fishing pressure has been low. Bass anglers reported a good bite on Texas rigged six-inch brown worms, drop shot and Senkos. The Truckee River is shaping up on the California side and anglers are experiencing some of the best fishing so far this season. Great flows and temperatures throughout the entire river right now. We have seen a very good variety of bugs present on the river and fly selection can at times be overwhelming. With the abundance of options, we recommend using a ‘seine’ when first stepping into the river to see what bugs are most present where you’re fishing. Flows on the South Fork of the Humboldt have dropped as the snow pack recedes. As of June 17, the South Fork of the Humboldt was flowing at 118 cfs which is well below the median of 450 cfs for this time of year. Pretty great on the Truckee River.  Fishing has been on fire for the last few weeks. I don’t say that often. It got a bit hot, but cool and windy and raining today. Should be back in the 70’s next week, perfect. Not too hot yet. Flows are just right, and them caddis started pop’n. Evenings will be very good for dry fly fishing on out. Good

We hit our 30 by 8 am.  5:30-6:15 was slow but then it turned on! The boys have plans for the smoker and a stop by Mcduff’s for dinner so the goal was body count and fast!

The conditions on the Truckee River have changed a lot from our last report. Flows have dropped considerably and are holding steady around 600-650 cfs through the downtown gauge. We are seeing some spikes in flows and turbid water, but these are isolated events and the water clears quickly. Fishing seems to be best on the downward side of the graph. As the water recedes

The flows on the Truckee River have stabilized near the average level for this time of year and as we move past our spring runoff we should see water temps continue to rise making the window of good fishing switch more towards the morning hours.
