Harrison Pass is open. Spring stocking has begun with rainbow trout stocked in Unit 21 and South Lakes. Trout in the 15″ t0 20″ range are being caught in the collection ditch. Fly anglers are reporting success with dark-colored streamer patterns, as well as your favorite nymph pattern (pheasant tail, gold-ribbed hares ear, etc.). Trout will start hitting dry flies as the weather warms up.

Fishing on Willow Creek Reservoir is currently good with many rainbow trout and crappie being caught. This spring, district staff installed 10 artificial habitat structures. These structures were put in place to provide fish habitat when the reservoir is drawn down.

Expect muddy shorelines due to intermittent precipitation over the last few weeks. Trout fishing has been fair to good for fish in the 9″ range and will improve after spring stocking. Bass and bluegill fishing remains slow but should begin picking up with warmer weather forecasted in the coming weeks. The water level is low so the boat ramp cannot be used at this time.

Water levels are recovering since the draw down last fall.  Anglers can expect decent shoreline fishing around the reservoir. The reservoir was not stocked last fall due to the draw down.  So far this spring, 2,024 rainbow trout were stocked averaging 10 inches.

Water temperatures are sitting at 53F.  Rainbow trout catches are measuring between 16 and 20 inches and weighing several pounds. Brown trout averaging 10″ and tiger trout averaging 12″ that were stocked last year are also being caught by anglers. Anglers are reeling in rainbow trout in the 9-to-12 inch range and an occasional brown trout in the 8-to-14 inch range. Catch rates are good with anglers catching several trout per hour. A total of 4,128 rainbow trout averaging 9.6 inches have been stocked so far this year.  Anglers will do well using nightcrawlers, PowerBait, and spinners.
