by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The action has really picked up the past couple of weeks. Early mornings and evenings have been the best time to find fish. Fly anglers are using size 8 Woolly Buggers in olive and black colorations.

Anglers have been reeling in stripers near Government Wash and Kingman Wash. The line sides seem to be favoring anchovies right at sunset. Most stripers are between 1 and 3 pounds. Black bass are taking bluegill and shad crankbait patterns, shad-look swimbaits and spinnerbaits. Catfish are biting on the anchovies in coves with depths nearing 30 feet or more.

The striper bite is picking up along the shores of the Colorado River. Reports from Lake Mohave indicate that anchovies are effective for bringing stripers to the boat, while largemouth bass are guarding fry or late bloomers on their nests. Carp are stirring up silt on the bottom, causing some water cloudiness, and are still jumping during spawn. Local angler Dale Scott had success fishing from

Trout action has been very good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Trout action has been very good with most rainbows averaging between 8 and 12 inches. There have been a few 18-inch rainbows taking baits as well. Olive Woolly Buggers and Snow Cones were the favorite fly patterns of the weekend. Despite rainy conditions, anglers found good action along the shore.  Boaters are doing well while trolling with spinners along drop offs. The bass bite is

Trout have been hitting well off the dam and along the south side

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Trout have been hitting well off the dam and along the south side of the reservoir. Black and white Snow Cones and olive Woolly Buggers have been fooling rainbow trout. Our local angler, Dawn Leclerc, landed 4 rainbow trout from our recent stocking. These fish are brought in from the hatchery in Colorado. The Willow Beach Hatchery imports rainbow trout from October till March. Our city brings in these fish to help with the caddis fly issue. This time of year, we are experiencing a bloom of these pests, but they are good eating and

With most of our fish in spawn, the fishing has been really slow. But it's time to go after the striper, as that bite should be doing well. Up on Lake Mohave, watch for boils of shad; the striper should be right there, with anchovies producing some great catches. Even a couple of jigs in various colors should work well. The coves above the power

Yep, it's me again. Fishing has been a bit slow lately, so here I am with a couple of nice-sized panfish, or sunfish as some call them. I released them after taking the picture. We have a healthy population of these fish along the Colorado River, especially in the still water areas. On Lake Mohave, these panfish aren't as large as those in the Havasu

Well, if you've been fishing lately, you know it's slow. The first part of spring has most of the fish in spawn or pre-spawn. While the fish are on the nest guarding the eggs, they are not interested in eating for a bit. Personally, I'm not a fan of taking the fish off the nest as it kills the eggs. Anyway, the striper bite is a

16.16 lb. Striped Bass

by RUSTY
Great river news this week! Our local angler, Gary Regan, came in to show us his catch. Gary's fish weighed in at 16.16 pounds and was 35 and 1/4 inches. He was fishing from his boat with his buddies Max and Belle. His companions quickly lent a hand, or paw, to help with the net and get this nice-sized striper on board. It was landed

Up on Lake Mohave, the fishing is holding up well for stripers. Our local angler, Raul Gonzalez, is showing off a superb catch he landed while fishing or trolling near the area just above the power lines. He was using a swimbait to catch these fish. The larger one weighed in at 17.72 pounds and measured 35 and 1/4 inches. I've been noticing that watching
