Trolling has been effective just outside the Katherine Landing Marina in the Telephone Cove area, while the coves past the power lines are producing some fish with anchovies being the bait of choice.

Updates for Eagle Valley Reservoir

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Despite vegetation making fishing difficult in recent days, trout are hitting PowerBait and night crawlers in the morning and again toward sunset. Bass and crappie have been hitting baits a little longer through the day. Jigs and Woolly Buggers are catching the fish. Temperatures are climbing into the 80s during the day and dropping into the 50s at night.

Summer Temperatures Make Fishing Difficult

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Summer temperatures are increasing seasonal vegetation growth along the shorelines and making fishing difficult. Largemouth bass have been hitting on imitation craws, plastic worms and grubs in dark colors. Green or root beer color tube baits, small jigs and nightcrawler pieces fished below a bobber are catching crappie. The bobber helps to keep one’s bait above the vegetation. Anglers have had better success early in

Heat Warnings Cause Slower Bites

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Anglers are using anchovies and stink bait in tubes to catch striped bass and catfish below Casino Row. The fish are averaging 2 pounds. Black bass are going for poppers and rattling jigs throughout the morning hours. Anglers are finding the bite to be quite slow during periods of heat warning in the afternoon.

Kastmasters and plastic minnows are catching the attention of boiling stripers. Jumpin’ Minnows, Zara Spooks and poppers will also catch the fish. The crappie bite has slowed in the Overton Arm while catfish are taking stink baits

This fishing spot is becoming more popular and is yielding a few good catches. Mike shared his story of catching a few smaller stripers in the early morning hours, floating along in his boat until he landed these two impressive ones. One of

Our local angler, Mike Merrit, is featured with a nice catch of recently planted rainbow trout. He was fishing from shore at Rotary Park using power bait to land his limit of five trout. These fish, brought in from Colorado, help manage the caddis fly issue and provide angling opportunities. Word has it that the striper bite is good near the casinos, Community Park, and
