Big Bend has been productive for anglers chasing largemouth bass with spinnerbaits, flat worms and leech plastics. Striped bass action is picking up along the river. Anglers have been catching stocked rainbow trout with nymphs, PowerBait and night crawlers

With increasing water temperatures, black bass are becoming more active, especially at sunrise. Anglers have caught striped bass and black bass with anchovies, plastics and shad. Windy conditions have made fishing difficult.

Bluegill are starting to hit baits in the late mornings. Fishermen also are finding a few catfish, probably holdovers from last summer. Soft plastics have been productive. The best action is coming to those fishing after sunrise or at sunset. Those times of day allow for a higher success rate, plus it is cooler at those times.

With a launch ramp now available at Echo Bay, anglers are taking the opportunity to pursue crappie in the Overton Arm. Many anglers have found good fishing for channel catfish and striped bass. Below the dam, anglers are finding slow going for striped bass. Most of the fish being reported are coming in under 5 pounds and taking swimbaits and anchovies. Shore anglers fishing along the developed areas are finding the evening hours to be most productive. Trout action is slowing with the increase temperature. PowerBait, Night Crawlers and floating mice tails are generally good bait options.
