Southern Nevada Fish Reports

Fishing remains limited, but the reservoir is open for day use. High water flows are creating murky water conditions. Rainbow trout will be the most common catch. Try PowerBait, jigs and spinners.

Below the dam, anglers are finding slow going for striped bass. Most of the fish being reported are coming in under 5 pounds and taking swimbaits and anchovies. Shore anglers fishing along the developed areas are finding the evening hours to be most productive. Trout action is slowing with the increase temperature. PowerBait, Night Crawlers and floating mice tails are generally good bait options.

For now, the fish are hitting soft plastics during the evening hours. Anglers are reportedly catching channel catfish using finesse techniques.

Anglers have seen an increase in black bass action over the last week. Reports are that smallmouth and largemouth bass are taking topwater baits and soft plastics in red and green in Cottonwood Basin. Kayakers are using swimbaits to catch stripers along the cove edges. Near Katherine Landing, anglers have been using swim jigs to get bites from largemouth bass during the evening hours.

According to reports, anglers are catching striped bass in Kingman Wash with anchovies fished from shore. Las Vegas Bay is giving up largemouth bass. Fishers willing to take a hike are trying their luck at Government Wash and Lava Butte. They are catching stripers in the evenings using topwater baits and shad crankbaits. Those willing to drive to Temple Bar are reporting both striped and black

There have been no recent reports from the management area. While fishing can be difficult in some areas due to weather changes, spring is a great time to try your luck. The trout in the reservoirs are hungry and take a variety of flies and hardware. PowerBait and worms are reliable on Adams-McGill and Haymeadow. Dacey is the place for spinners and plastics.

Spring showers and periodic snowstorms are keeping things unsettled. Ice conditions are somewhere between frozen and open, so be patient and be careful. Roads may be closed periodically due to runoff. Please check road conditions. 

The water levels have reached its limit and are covering the road to Ursine and Eagle Valley Reservoir. Water is very murky; please be careful in the area.
