Anglers are catching a mixed bag of stripers and black bass on plastics and crankbaits. Fishing has been good for stripers hanging on the surface following their food source. There have been some limits of crappie coming out of the Overton Arm. A reminder to check regulations on limits for each species and spearfishing.

The peak snowmelt is over, so expect decreasing flows over the next few weeks with dry weather conditions forecast for eastern Nevada. We are getting some success here along the Colorado River below the Davis Dam. The fishing up on Lake Mohave is picking up with some smallmouth being picked up along the point while fishing the shelves. The largemouth are still watching the fry, this means while they are guarding the baby fish they will not be starting to feed until the fry are a bit larger.

With the warmer weather expect flows to continue to increase. The recent precipitation may make for some muddy driving conditions on the back roads. Fishing has been good the past couple of weeks despite afternoon winds. At Haymeadow, anglers have been pulling out rainbows using dark-colored Woolly Buggers and Rooster Tails. Nymphing patterns, like red or black zebra midges, are also good fly-fishing options. Crappie action should pick up soon at Cold Springs. Brightly colored jigs will catch the fish. So too will root beer colored Woolly Buggers.
