Stocked rainbow trout ae taking night crawlers and PowerBait below the dam and along the river. Schools of small striped bass are not very far away. Fish as large as 3 pounds have taking baits in the early morning and evening hours. Stripers and catfish both have been liking anchovies.

Boat traffic has been busy on the weekends. Kayak anglers should get out early to avoid crowds. Reports are that one lucky angler reeled in a double-digit striper at Willow Beach on Monday. Further south the line sides have been taking anchovies and swimbaits. Crankbaits have been fooling black bass near submerged vegetation.

Bluegill are providing good action for anglers following a recent fish plant by the Nevada Department of Wildlife. The fish will take live mealworms, night crawler pieces and small flies. Catfish will hit on nightcrawlers, chicken liver or stink baits fished off the bottom. Bass have been in the mix as well.

Sunrise and sunset continue to be the most productive hours of the day for stripers and black bass. Live shad have been productive for stripers near Vegas Wash. Boaters have been catching black bass in the coves near Callville Bay.

LAUNCH RAMP ALERT: Hemenway Harbor's launch ramp will be closed on Wednesday, June 22, from 4 a.m. through mid-afternoon as staff install pipe mat and adjust the dock for safe launching. This means NO BOATS can launch or come into the dock for retrieval during these hours.

With the lack of snow, stream flows are dropping quickly and many are now fishable. However, they may still be turbid. With the poor snowpack and the unusually warm spring, anglers should take advantage of early summer conditions while they can. Expect very low stream flows later this summer. As of June 16, Kingston Creek was flowing at 2.7 cfs.

Windy and warm days are ahead. Weeds are starting to emerge. Weedless hooks are recommended to spend more time catching bass and crappie, than pulling plants from the end of your line. Bass are active and hitting on jigs and imitation plastics. Haymeadow and Cold Springs Reservoirs are picking up for crappie. Anglers are using small jigs and nightcrawlers.

Murky waters made fishing tough for some anglers recently. Temperatures are reaching into the 80s during the day and dropping into the 50s at night. Trout prefer hitting PowerBait and nightcrawlers in the early mornings or evenings. Action for bass and crappie has been decent, and a little longer lived through the day with jigs and woolly buggers working well.

Anglers are reporting success from the dam through Casino Row. Most are in the two-pound average. Fishing has been best at sunrise and sunset. Stripers and catfish have been landed using anchovies around The Bend. Black bass are going for rattling jigs. Catfish are going after nightcrawlers and anchovies.

Anglers are catching a mixed bag of stripers and black bass on plastics and crankbaits. Fishing has been good for stripers hanging on the surface following their food source. There have been some limits of crappie coming out of the Overton Arm. A reminder to check regulations on limits for each species and spearfishing.

Most stream flows are down, with just a few up due to the hot weather causing an increase in snowmelt at the higher elevations. The peak snowmelt is over, so expect decreasing flows over the next few weeks with dry weather conditions forecast for eastern Nevada. In White Pine County, most streams have changed little and shouldn’t change much as there is little snowpack left

We are getting some success here along the Colorado River below the Davis Dam. The fishing up on Lake Mohave is picking up with some smallmouth being picked up along the point while fishing the shelves. The largemouth are still watching the fry, this means while they are guarding the baby fish they will not be starting to feed until the fry are a bit larger.
