Black bass and bluegill are biting throughout Government Wash. Smallmouth bass are showing a preference for soft plastics, while largemouth are hitting a variety of hard plastics, including topwater lures. Catfish are hungry for anchovies and catches are being reported at all times of the day. Striped bass anglers are having moderate success using swimbaits and anchovies in the Boulder Basin and near Echo Bay.

Trout are taking earthworms, Rooster Tails, and PowerBait at Adams-McGill. Crappie and largemouth bass action is picking up on Haymeadow and Cold Springs reservoirs. Black bass are limited to five in possession until June 30. Wind and rain held anglers at bay over the weekend, but this Saturday’s forecast is looking clear for morning and evening fishing.

Crappies are starting to bite offshore. Pistol Pete’s and jigs caught a few crappie’s attention over the weekend. Bass are catch-and-release only until June 30.

The crappie bite is picking up. The fish are taking small jigs. Bass and trout are taking almost everything thrown at them. Rainbow trout will take olive Woolly Buggers, earthworms, and PowerBait. Water levels are steady with shore fishing limited by vegetation in a few spots.

Anchovies are a reliable bait, but anglers are reporting success with a variety of swimbaits as well. Rainbow trout are hanging around in shaded holes with vegetative cover. Rainbow trout activity is reportedly best overnight and into the early morning at Willow Beach. Rooster Tails are catching fish up to 3 pounds. Trout fishing is good across the reservoirs. 18- to 24-inch trout are taking nymphs, Woolly Buggers, and Rooster Tails. Anglers on Adams-McGill are catching fish with trout and night crawlers. Striped bass in the 1- to-4-pound range have been caught through casino row. Anchovies and trout swimbaits are recommended choices. Black bass anglers are targeting the area of Laughlin Lagoon and Big Bend State Recreation Area. The bite is picking up for black bass, striped bass, and catfish all over the Boulder Basin. Black bass anglers are reporting success using jerkbaits, jigs, and soft plastics. A variety of swimbaits and anchovies are tempting stripers from both shore and boat. Catfish are eager to take anchovies throughout Government Wash. In the Virgin Basin, anglers using tube jigs are finding schools of crappie.
