Fishing Has Slowed Down

 Fishing is slow around the area lately due to thin ice on all the reservoirs.  The WMA requests everyone to use extreme caution when around the area.

Reservoir Covered in Ice

The reservoir is covered with 2-3-inches of ice. There is potential for ice fishing. Please always check with the ice before venturing out. The best area for ice fishing is off the fishing dock. Anglers are catching 11 to 13-inch rainbows.

Echo Canyon Reservoir Fishing Report

Submerged vegetation along the shoreline has made fishing difficult in some places. Anglers are still catching catfish in the coves using anchovies, though some have found success with homemade stink baits. Striper action has slowed on much of the lake. Lake Mohave/ Willow Beach Fishing Report

 Rainbow trout action has been good at Willow Beach. Shore anglers are catching trout between 4 and 6 pounds. Striper action remains moderate. Anglers have reported that stripers are biting on pencil poppers and swimbaits in 8 to 10 feet of water. Black bass and catfish have been biting for shore anglers in coves with drop-offs. 

Las Vegas Urban Ponds Fishing Report

The Nevada Department of Wildlife has planted rainbow trout twice in the last two weeks at Floyd Lamb, Sunset, Veteran’s Memorial and Lorenzi park ponds. Colorado River Fishing Report

Striped bass action has slowed with the arrival of cooler temperatures, but some anglers are still having luck bringing in 4- to 7-pound stripers from Casino Row to Big Bend State Recreation Area. Lake Mead Fishing Report

Anglers continue to catch striped bass throughout the lake using light colored crankbaits and shad colored jigs. In the coves, striped bass and catfish are biting on anchovies close to shore. Smallmouth bass are taking shad imitations in the area of Lovers Cove and Government Wash. Expect fishing action to slow down with the arrival of nighttime temperatures close to freezing.
