Eagle Valley Reservoir Fishing Report

Action has been very good for rainbow trout and largemouth bass. Bait fishermen have done well with night crawlers, while those throwing lures also caught fish but wouldn’t share their secret. Special bass regulations for catch and release is in effect until June 30. Water conditions are very good and aquatic weeds have not become a problem yet.

The action for trout, bass and crappie has picked up with bait anglers using night crawlers or PowerBait doing very well off the dam. The water level is starting to drop, but the lake remains full and weed free.

Following the recent fish plants, the action has been good for rainbow and tiger trout. Anglers have been catching the fish with rainbow sparkle PowerBait, as well as night crawlers. Fly-fishers are fooling the fish with small, black or brown Woolly Buggers with a little sparkle in them. The campgrounds are open with all facilities available.

Colorado River Striper Report

The Striped Bass bite is picking up on the Colorado river here below the Davis Dam. The Striped Bass bite is going great the coves above the power lines and the points near the dam for you shore anglers. The river is showing some good action using your favorite lure.

Lake Mead Smallie Action

Angler Nick Balestera checked in with NVFR from Lake Mead. Nick submitted a photo of a Smallmouth Bass. Check out my new personal best on Smallmouth Bass. I caught this “Smallie” two weeks ago using a small jig in about 10 feet of water. The fish is estimated to weigh between 3 and 4 pounds and was 18 inches long.

48 Pound Striped Bass

Angler Jack caught this monster 48-pound, 13-ounce striper in about 10 feet of water in the flats across from South Cove. He also caught another lunker on the fishing trip.
