Lake Mohave Fishing Report

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
The lake level is currently 635 feet above msl. This elevation represents a drop of 7 feet from last week’s report so be very careful of rocks just under the surface. The fishing dock at Katherine's Landing produced some nice fish. The striper bite has returned according to reports. Down deep by the dam and above the power lines are the hottest spots.

Trout stocking has begun and the latest stocking was last week, the week of Nov. 6. The best bait is reported to be yellow and orange power bait and of course night crawlers. The current elevation is 1078.6 feet above msl. which is an increase of almost 2 feet in elevation from last week. The National Park Service has been working to improve conditions at South Cove launch ramp, but 4x4 vehicles are recommended for launching/retrieving boats. Eagle Valley Reservoir Fishing Report

Rainbow trout have been hitting well on spinners such as a Mepp’s with gold blades and red spots. Fly-fishers have been catching fish with black or dark olive Woolly Buggers. Bait fishers have been finding success off the dam using night crawlers or garlic-flavored baits.

Echo Canyon Reservoir Fishing Report

Rainbows have been hitting well off the dam and seem to prefer garlic-flavored PowerBait. Bass and crappie action has been very slow due to cold water temperatures.

Anglers are finding some success at the upper marsh for panfish and catfish. Mealworms or night crawlers below a bobber will catch fish.

Lake Mohave Fishing Report

Fishing action has been fair to good early in the day. Striped bass and black bass are taking baits in coves near the dam. Fishermen are using plastic worms and night crawlers. The Willow Beach area has been slow. Largemouth and smallmouth bass have been taking silver or gray trout imitations outside of Cottonwood Cove.

Anglers are reporting good fishing with early morning and late evening being the best times of day. Live shad can be caught outside of Government Wash. Anglers are catching catfish and striped bass in the Boulder Basin area. One angler reports that most of the stripers are coming from depths of about 70 feet. Our local angler was fishing from his boat and throwing his favorite lure. He practice's catch and release with the large and small mouth bass. Our trout sites are producing some rainbow trout action and Power bait seems to work the best. A good technique to try is when your bait slows go to your favorite spinner. Lake Mohave Fishing Report

Our fishing is picking up. Up on Lake Mohave Bob Hildebrand was fishing mostly for large and small mouth bass and doing well. He also landed a couple of stripers. The two stripers he kept one at 8.92 pounds and 30 and 1/2 inches the smaller one at 5.70 pounds and 29 and 3/4 inches.

The staff from Willow Beach Marina checked in. Take a look at 10 year old Liam Buist brought in this Stripd Bass today. He was using a Rapala J7 at the 43 MM south of Willow Beach. Nice catch!
