Striper fishing slowed down a little this past week in the Boulder Basin, but swimbaits have been productive out of Echo Bay. Chartreuse has been the go to color for the line sides though just about any light colored bait that wiggles like a threadfin shad. Largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing has been slow. Rainbow trout action has increased this past week with the cooling temperatures. Fish have been actively taking PowerBait in green and rainbow sparkle colorations. Mepp’s spinners have also been taking the trout, and fly-fishers have been doing well with small Woolly Buggers and nymph patterns.

Anglers are finding some success at the upper marsh for panfish and catfish. Mealworms or night crawlers below a bobber will catch fish.

Fishing has been hit or miss. Some anglers have been lucky enough to boat stripers in the six to 9-pound range while others have not been quite so lucky. The days are still warm enough that mornings and evenings are the most productive times of day. Anchovies have been the most consistent bait.

Striped bass are still chasing threadfin shad boils near Hemenway Marina and around 33 Hole. Work the outside edges of the boils to catch the line sides. Zara Spooks, Jumpin’ Minnows, pencil poppers and other top-water baits will catch the fish. Smallmouth and largemouth bass are biting on top-water lures like jointed shad or minnow imitations.

The lake level is currently 642.3 feet above msl. The fishing dock at Katherine's Landing produced some nice fish. The bluegill and largemouth bass/smallmouth bass bite has stepped up with the warm temperatures. Below the Davis Dam along the Colorado river its been slow but with the recent rainbow trout stocking this will pick up. this stocking is a month earlier than past history and is meant to help in the caddis fly population. Not much has changed on the water over the past couple of weeks. Anglers are finding the best fishing away from shore, but striper action has been slow. Look for smallmouth bass in coves with vegetation and along shelves. No reports from Willow Beach or Cottonwood Cove.
