Southern Nevada Fish Reports

Good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Last week the reservoir received over 14,000 rainbows making for great fishing conditions. Anglers are doing well using a variety of baits and lures, but the most productive have been Mepp’s gold or silver spinners with red dots. Bait fishers have been doing very well using night crawlers.

Good Fishing

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing activity has picked up and rainbow trout are taking a variety of baits. Night crawlers and Mepp’s spinners have been the bait and lure of choice. All campground facilities are open.

Try Upper Marsh

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Anglers are finding some success at the upper marsh for panfish and catfish. Mealworms or night crawlers below a bobber will catch fish.

River Update

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Rainbow trout have been the target fish while temperatures remain on the cool side. Below the dam at Davis camp and around the casino area, on both sides of the river, fishing has been good. Spinners and chartreuse PowerBait have been the favorite lures. Further down the river at Rotary Park some have found luck with night crawlers as well as hardware.

No Change

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Due to an equipment failure in its water delivery system, and the subsequent loss of its rainbow trout stocks, the Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery has suspended its recreational fish stocking program, which included weekly fish plants at Willow Beach. The hatchery did save and release approximately 11,000 trout in mid-December. Though their numbers will diminish over time, these and holdover fish from previous plants

Good when Weather is Good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Striped bass fishing is picking up when the weather cooperates. Some river fishermen have weighed in stripers pushing four to five pounds. Try the coves with good brush cover. Some can only be reached by boat, but others can also be reached by car. The Lake Mead National Recreation map shows roads that will lead to shore fishing opportunities.

Good when Warm

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
High winds have kept fishermen at bay. The rest of the week is looking warm again. Fishing for bass, both large and small, has been good on warm days. Shad remain tough to come by and the stripers haven’t been biting on much else. Water temperatures are still fairly cold, so black bass spawning season still isn't completely underway.

by RUSTY
Well our striper bite is picking up we have our local angler Gene Tafoya (gray shirt) with a 16 inch striper a 1.38 pounds and a small mouth bass. He was fishing from shore using anchovies near the Davis dam. the small mouth weighed in at 2.62 pounds and was 17 and 1/4 inches. In the casino area James Hansen (white shirt) was able to

Rainbows Biting

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Ice is off and Rainbows are taking almost everything thrown at them. Keep in mind that the upper areas of Adams - McGill, Cold Springs, Haymeadow and Dacey - are currently closed due to water fowl nesting. See the NDOW Fishing Guide for any additional regulations.

Improved Catch Rates

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
With no ice left on the surface the water clarity has been improving which in turn has improved the catch rates across the reservoir. One angler throwing small spinners, such as a gold Mepps with red dots, was landing 12 to 14 inch Rainbows. NDOW stocked 15,000 Rainbow and 4,000 tiger trout last week. All facilities are open.

Action Picking Up

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The fishing activity has picked up this past week with the ice disappearing. NDOW planted 10,000 Rainbows into the reservoir. With the exception of the water at the RV loop, all camping facilities are open.

Try the Upper Marsh

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Anglers are finding some success at the upper marsh for panfish and catfish. Mealworms or night crawlers below a bobber will catch fish.

Laughlin Update

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Trout have been on the elusive side but with some technique and good spotting, anglers are doing ok. The Arizona shore in the area is proving to produce some good trout fishing; with a big Rainbow caught recently weighing 3.14 pounds using Pistol Pete trout flies. It seems this season there are a lot of various spinners that are producing great catches. However, striper bites

Fish Is Good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Up on Lake Mohave the coves are showing some action and anchovies seem to be working well. The winds are holding a lot of anglers back, but with our weather starting to cooperate that will pick up. Stripers are being caught in the early morning and nice stripers have been caught south of Cottonwood Cove using anchovies and swimbait lures. Largemouth and smallmouth bass have

Striper Update

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Striper fishing has been hit or miss from the Las Vegas wash this last week. Mid-week fishing seems to be the best, most parties caught 20 or more fish. Stripers have been hitting best on live shad. The depths for the shad range from 10-80 feet. Largemouth bass are showing signs of spawning, so on the north end fishermen are hoping to see more. Largemouth
