Good solid fishing on the Truckee River. Mornings to about lunch, is your best time to go out and stick them on the nymph rigs. Evenings, before dark, best time to get them on some dry flys. As flows come down expect the fishing to get better! Same as Cali, midges and Caddis are the predominate hatches. Streamer fishing is great right now, white baitfish imitations off the banks are the way to go! We haven’t had any reports back lately from the ranch but typically it will fish similar to the rest of the river, just not the same crowds. Dry/dropper rigs should be good, as well as some small nymphs and maybe some terrestrials.            

This week the Lahontan National Fish Hatchery stocked 6,139 catchable Pilot Peak strain Lahontan cutthroat trout into Lake Tahoe. Stocking will continue weekly throughout the summer at various publicly accessible locations in both California and Nevada. Approximately 20% of the trout stocked will be tagged with a T-bar anchor tag that has a unique ID and phone number on it. Anglers are encouraged to report

The Truckee River is shaping up on the California side and anglers are experiencing some of the best fishing so far this season. Great flows and temperatures throughout the entire river right now.
