Anglers are catching trout in the 10″ range. Green PowerBait and worms are the go-to here for bait anglers. Fly anglers switching from dry flies to small leech, bugger and chironomid patterns. Float-tubers and kayakers are having the best luck against the rocks and brush on the backside of the lake.

Water temperatures are in the low 60s. Anglers can expect decent shoreline fishing around the reservoir. The reservoir received 2,024 rainbow trout this spring, averaging 10 inches.  In July, a total of 5,000 tiger trout were stocked averaging 3.7 inches. The fishery is still recovering after significant drawdown events.

Striped bass anglers are reporting success when trolling swimbaits and when fishing with anchovies. Sticking to shad imitations for your swimbaits would be a good place to start if trolling. Largemouth bass should be up shallow in the coves. Finesse presentations while the bass are up shallow in cover may be a good starting point. Smallmouth bass can also be caught this time of year.

Crappie are biting Hare’s Ear nymphs and night crawlers near the dam. Midges and PowerBait are catching fish throughout the day with the best trout action taking place early and late in the day. The bass spawn was good, and anglers have been catching bass ranging from 4 to 12 inches. The water is very low making it difficult to launch even a light trailer.
