Nevada Fish Reports

Get out there and make the most of it!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
While the water temps have dropped along the entire Truckee, we are still seeing warm water along Glenshire Drive in the late evenings. Down in the canyon, anglers can fish all day right now, with water temps peaking around 65 degrees by 5:00pm. We have noticed a decline in activity towards that late afternoon window, however, and the best fishing will still be in that morning

Fly Fishing Report | Truckee River| late July 2025

by RENO FLY SHOP
The river is looking great! After a few hot days we have now passed the day (July 22) that is typically the seasonal peak air temperature. If historic trends continue, we should begin cooling into Fall.  The fish have been sitting in fast water and are eating happily. Fly selection has varied somewhat unusually day to day. Some days you can’t keep the fish off of

Lake Tahoe Updates

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Lake Tahoe’s surface temps range from the low to mid 60s°F, warming slightly in sheltered areas. Mackinaw in Lake Tahoe are found deep and are being caught via trolling or jigging. Most anglers jigging for macks are fishing in the 400 to 600 foot range. Kokanee are schooling deeper in South Lake Tahoe, and hitting bright spoons or hoochies at 100 feet. Rainbows and browns

The Truckee River is fishing strong

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Current Water Conditions The Truckee River is fishing strong this week, especially during the cooler morning hours. With summer temperatures pushing afternoon water temps higher, early outings are your best bet. Flows are stable and healthy—around 299 CFS at Tahoe City, 356 CFS through Truckee, and 651 CFS near Farad. Don’t forget your thermometer: once the water hits 68°F, it’s best to call it a day.

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
This week, our local angler Chris Williams landed a beautiful 14.98-pound striper measuring 36.5 inches in length. While slightly underweight for its size, it’s still an impressive catch! Chris was fishing from shore at Rotary Park using a swimbait to reel in this striper. Reports are coming in that larger stripers are making their way in, and a variety of lures have been producing solid results.

The fishing at Willow Beach continues to impress

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
The fishing at Willow Beach continues to impress. Rainbow trout are being caught on PowerBait and nightcrawlers. Trout fishing seems to be best the first two days following stockings. Striped bass are being caught out of all different depths in the river. Large swimbaits and plugs in shad and trout patterns have been producing well. Special Regulations: The limit is 20 striped bass: minimum of 20 inches,

As water temperatures rise the fish are moving to their typical summer patterns

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
As water temperatures rise the fish are moving to their typical summer patterns. Striped bass are being caught off-shore, largely on swimbait style lures or anchovies. Sticking to shad imitations when choosing color patterns would be a great place to start. Smallmouth bass have also moved off-shore, but are being caught on more finesse-style presentations such as small plastics. The largemouth bass are moving up

Lake Mead has historically fished well this time of year

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
Lake Mead has historically fished well this time of year. Striped bass tend to be found off-shore in the cooler water. They can be targeted with swimbaits and anchovies. When selecting swimbait colors, shad imitations are a good starting point. Channel catfish can also be caught well this time of year. Anchovies, nightcrawlers, and squid tend to attract bites. The best times to catch both

The Colorado River is producing well this time of year

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
The Colorado River is producing well this time of year. Striped bass can be found in the cooler water hitting swimbaits or anchovies. Anglers have reported success with swimbaits in trout color patterns. Catfish are also being caught out of the river, but are mainly being caught on anchovies or nightcrawlers. The catfish bite should be picking up soon as we are nearing the end

Fishing has been pretty good.

by MATT KOLES
Back to having some nice cool weather on the Truckee River. High's not getting out of the 70's is pretty nice for July. Of course, the fishing has been pretty good.  Flows have been great all up and down the river. 625 cfs here in Hirschdale. If you could pick a perfect flow, that would probably be it. Pretty nice flows down in through Reno as

Great time to be on the river!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The flows along the Truckee have remained nice and consistent over the last few weeks, with the Glenshire area at around 350 CFS and below the Boca confluence at 650 CFS. It’s exciting to see such excellent flows for this time of year and it really leaves the whole river open to good fishing conditions. In general, due to the warmer water upstream, we recommend fishing

Lake Tahoe Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Jason Blanchette went out with his family and had good success on the south end  trolling from Cave Rock to the Logan Shoals area. The Camp Richardson area to Emerald Bay area has also been productive. I recommend being on the lake before O-dark thirty as the bite turns off when the sun hits the water. For more information go to rubyjeancharters.com or email j3blanchett@yahoo.com.

The lake level has dropped and the fishing has slowed down

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level has dropped and the fishing has slowed down. Here again is where that early morning fishing is more productive. I would recommend getting your presentation down deeper with either a lead line or a down rigger. Shore fishing has been fair for anglers on the south end with powerbait.

Mackinaw are now holding deep

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Lake Tahoe’s surface temps are still in the high 50s°F to low 60s°F, warming slightly in protected coves early and late in the day. Mackinaw are now holding deep—most are being caught around 370 feet via trolling or jigging. Kokanee have started schooling deeper in South Lake Tahoe; try running bright spoons or hoochies at about 70 feet. Rainbows and browns are cruising closer to

The Truckee River continues to fish well

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Current Water Conditions The Truckee River continues to fish well, but with warmer weather raising the afternoon water temperatures, aim for early mornings right now for best results. Flows are holding steady and healthy across the system—approximately 299 CFS at Tahoe City, 356 CFS through Truckee, and 651 CFS near Farad. Anglers should bring a thermometer with them to test the water temperature. Once the water

Lake Mohave Fishing Update We’ve got some great news—Lake Mohave is producing stripers! Anglers are having the best luck trolling with a variety of swim baits and jigs. White seems to be the go-to color right now, especially for bucktail jigs and swim baits. Our local anglers, including the ever-colorful "Corn Man" Mark Osgood and his mate Shiela Schuyler, recently went trolling on Lake Mohave. They brought

Northern Nevada Bass Tournament- South Fork Reservoir Wrap Up

by NORTHERN NEVADA BASS
Thank you all for your patience as I get everything squared away before I post! Yesterday's Southfork event was amazing. Even with the split format of weighing big fish and doing the CPR style for the 5 fish limit. There were no discrepancies I witnessed and above that everyone seemed to enjoy the event! And as the biggest bonus in my mind every fish that was kept

Hot on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Hot on the Truckee River.  Fishing is good in this heat if you get out in the mornings and fish the very fast water.  Fast oxygen saturated water. Look for slots, seams, and divits in that fast water. Most anglers have no idea what to look for right now. That's ok, I know a guy. The euro rig is king this time of year. There's almost no reason

Conditions are pretty darn good!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
While the change in releases out of Tahoe and Boca has kept us on our toes over the last few weeks, overall, the conditions along most stretches of the Truckee are pretty darn good. We would say it’s safe to assume fishing along the 89 stretch will be limited, but through town and down into the canyon remains really good. Due to the good flows out

Hobart has fished very well this spring and should continue to fish well through the summer

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Hobart has fished very well this spring and should continue to fish well through the summer. Damsels, dragonflies, midge, and callibaetis mayflies have all been hatching throughout the day. Fish have been on the surface eating midge and callibaetis early in the day until the typical afternoon wind picks. Ants, hoppers, and damsel adults are fun to fish along the shoreline even in the wind.

Marilyn’s Pond is fishing very well but has also been very busy

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Marilyn’s Pond is fishing very well but has also been very busy. Stocking will continue as long as temperatures allow. Light lines and small hooks can help increase catch rates at Marilyn’s. Bait fishing with salmon eggs under a bobber is pretty consistent on the pond.
