Truckee River Report

by MATT KOLES
Locked into high pressure.  Mild weather for this time of year on the Truckee River. Feels about like April. Of course this mild weather warms up the water and the trouts get more active. Flows are still pretty good in both states despite the lack of snow.  Seems like they’re holding water back in anticipation of another bad winter.  This warm weather has got some bugs pop’n.

Fishing for striped bass has picked up from Davis Dam south. One lucky angler found good fishing while casting swimbaits from the shoreline near the Avi Bridge. Anchovies are top bait for this stretch of the river, bringing in both striped bass and catfish. Temperatures are expected to reach 80 degrees this weekend. Work eddies and seams for stocked rainbow trout.

Night crawlers, PowerBait, Panther Martins, Rooster Tails, L’il Jakes and other small lures will catch

Las Vegas Urban Ponds Fishing Report

by AARON MEIER
Stocked rainbow trout provide fishing opportunity for patient anglers. Keep your bait offerings small and use small hooks. For catch-and-release fishing, NDOW encourages the use of single barbless hooks. There are no fish plants on the schedule this week, but Floyd Lamb, Sunset and Lorenzi Park ponds should receive trout the first week in February.

Lake Mead Fishing Report

by AARON MEIER
Threadfin shad have been hard to find of late, so anchovies or sardines may be the ticket. Anglers are finding striped bass in about 60 feet of water, and the best fishing is being found after dark. Most fish are in the 2- to 4-pound range. With clear skies forecast into the weekend, now is a good time to get in some on-the-water time. As
