Lake Tahoe is offering strong spring fishing conditions

Lake Tahoe is offering strong spring fishing conditions. Anglers are reporting steady catches of Mackinaw (lake trout), brown trout, and some rainbow trout. Mackinaw in the 5–9 lb range are being caught by trolling at depths of 70–120 feet using minnow-style plugs like Rapalas or AC Plugs. Spring is alive on the Truckee River!

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Current Water Conditions Spring is alive on the Truckee River! Snowmelt runoff has increased flows, creating dynamic fishing conditions. The best sections right now are below Tahoe City and around Glenshire. Flows are currently 80 CFS out of Tahoe City, 320 CFS through Truckee, and 744 CFS near Farad. As we enter in the final few weeks at Pyramid we have seen the bite slow and the average size of the fish reduced

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
As we enter in the final few weeks at Pyramid we have seen the bite slow and the average size of the fish reduced. In another couple of weeks, the fish will finish up their spawn and move back into deeper water. Once this happens, the bite can be very good once again for those getting out on a boat, pontoon or float tube and

As of today, we are seeing the flows around Glenshire at 800+ CFS, while the gauge at Farad is reading just under 1,000 CFS. The forecast is calling for typical spring temps of upper 50’s to low 60’s here in Truckee. We expect a slow, but continued ramp up of the flows on the river, which is ideal. Despite a great snowpack last year, the

The LCT are still chasing each other in shallow water

by RENO FLY SHOP
Not a lot of change out at the lake. The LCT are still chasing each other in shallow water. Fortunately, with this many fish in shallow water it is only a matter of time before one bites your fly. The naked technique (fishing a floating line without a bobber) has been the most effective with retrieving flies a close second. This time of year, with the fish

The Truckee River has fished well over the last week and is starting to see an increase in flow

by RENO FLY SHOP
The Truckee River has fished well over the last week and is starting to see an increase in flow. Warm spring temperatures are causing the snow at lower to mid elevations to melt. The Truckee has maintained a clarity of around 3-4’. Flows at the Reno gauge are hovering around 700-800 cfs but could rise or fall with air temperature over the coming days. Nymph fishing

Pyramid Lake Fishing Report

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
Well, this time it's my son Albert and me heading out for some river fishing. We're leaving the marina and making our way through the canal that leads to the Colorado River. This time of year, shore fishing is doing well. Anchovies are producing stripers, and swim baits are working too. I like using something in a trout pattern, but white and yellow are always great
