Nevada Fish Reports

Fishing has been fair. Look for trout fishing to pickup this spring when trout stocking begins again.

Shore anglers are finding a few trout from shore. Spoons and spinners are typically good options through spring as fish become more aggressive in shallow water.

The Carson is the first river starting to show signs of spring. Flows are up to about 1000cfs making it tough to fish. Large spinners seem to be the best bet for planters. Clarity has been hit or miss depending on the day and temperatures. Fly fisherman are finding a few trout on streamers and large nymphs.

Hinkson Slough is back! – After two years of repairs and rehabilitation, Hinkson Slough is healthy and fishing very well.  The rainbow trout that were stocked over the fall and winter are incredibly healthy and ranged in size from twelve to nineteen inches. Fishing will pick up as we start to warm up this spring. The warm water species here are pretty lethargic during the coldest months of the season. Walleye fishing has been fair while white bass and catfish fishing has been slow. Everything gets better at Lahontan with some heat.

Bass fishing has been good this spring on the ponds. Most Bass are ranging 6-10 inches but a few larger fish a showing up on occasion near the warm water outflow.

Overall, fishing at Chimney Reservoir has been slow. Walleye and catfish fishing should pick up as we move further into Spring.

Bait fisherman using crawlers and powerbait on the bottom should find some of the stocked trout. Fly fisherman slowly retrieving small woolly buggers should catch some of the cold water species during the warmest part of the day

No recent reports from Knott due to limited/no access during the winter months. Fishing should be great when there is access again this spring.

Bilk has been slow for bass and should pick up for trout when stocking begins again this spring. Crawlers off the bottom will producer bass and trout through the summer.
