Nevada Fish Reports

The Truckee River flow has dropped to below 700 cfs at the Reno gauge. This is a great flow to target fish from downtown up to the California state line. Earlier in the week, flows were up around 1,150 cfs but dropped due to the colder storms. Runoff seems to be happening at snails pace this year which is keeping the river in fishable shape

Flows are increasing, making wading more difficult. Fishing below the dam has been very productive this spring. Anglers are finding trout in the pools. Special Regulation: Artificial lures with single barbless hooks only above the Lucky Nugget causeway. Limit of 1 trout.

Surface water temps are climbing into the high 50s. The reservoir is full and water is relatively clear. Expect soft and muddy shorelines with weekend precipitation. Trout up to 18″ are being caught. Try small and bright spinners, worms or your favorite PowerBait. Anglers are reporting a few bass and catfish catches and catch rates will be picking up more with the warmer weather. Spring

Expect muddy shorelines due to intermittent precipitation over the last few weeks. Trout fishing has been fair to good for fish in the 9″ range and will improve after spring stocking. Bass and bluegill fishing remains slow but should begin picking up with warmer weather forecasted in the coming weeks. The water level is low so the boat ramp cannot be used at this time.

Harrison Pass is open. Spring stocking has begun with rainbow trout stocked in Unit 21 and South Lakes. Trout in the 15″ t0 20″ range are being caught in the collection ditch. Fly anglers are reporting success with dark-colored streamer patterns, as well as your favorite nymph pattern (pheasant tail, gold-ribbed hares ear, etc.). Trout will start hitting dry flies as the weather warms up.

Wildhorse is full and spilling. The State Park has put the boat dock in the water and the ramp is open. Water temps are sitting in the low to mid 50s. Trout are moving into the shallows, improving catch rates from shore. Anglers are catching trout averaging 16″ to 22″. Bass fishing will be slow until warmer weather persists. The road to Wilson is clear and dry and the lake is full. There is opportunity for open water fishing from the shorelines. With more precipitation forecasted for this weekend, expect the road and shorelines to be a bit muddy. PowerBait and worms or small flashy spinners should work for spin anglers, while small nymph, midge and leech patterns should work for fly anglers.

Water temperatures are creeping into the low 60s. Spring stocking has begun with over 5,000 rainbow trout stocked early April. Trout are moving into the shallows. Bait anglers are having the best luck with trout hitting orange PowerBait, while fly anglers are having success with nymph, midge and leech patterns. Streamers are being hit hard off the dam. When you can get out without the "W". Fishing has been good. Most have been using flashers and worms. I prefer to use small Cowbells, gold and silver. They are smaller and less drag for a better fight. Rapalas have been productive on top and down deep. Keep changing patterns and sizes to find the most productive for that day.

At Pyramid Lake, fishing continues to improve post-spawn. Lahontan Cutthroat are active from Pelican Point to Warrior. Fly anglers using midges from ladders are still catching a few fish, especially in the early morning and evening hours. Current Water Conditions Flows are fluctuating with mild to medium runoff from high-elevation snowpack. The river remains mostly clear and wadable in most areas but with some rain and a possible weather front moving through next weekend. Timing will be key the week of 5/12/25.   Current flows are 77 CFS at Tahoe City, 398 CFS through Truckee, and 1000 CFS near Farad. Trout are in
