Nevada Fish Reports

Todd Sodaro and Chad Machado of the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229): The water is dropping a little but it is hanging tough. DF&G will be planting later this week, probably on Thursday. David Lopez of Martinez caught a 4.3 pound rainbow on Salmon eggs on July 7 and Rodney Reynaldo of Gilroy caught a 3 pound rainbow on Power Bait on July 5.

Dave Kirby: Not very many fishermen. The water is extremely low and the fishing is really slow.

Chuck and Linda Fields at the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): It's too darn hot. Even the fish don't like it. We had a couple of boats come in, yesterday (Sunday), with limits. One was using worms and the other was using Power Bait. ?Į

Andy at The Gilly Sporting Goods Store: The Truckee is still fishing good. The water flows are slowing down. There is a good Caddis hatch in the evenings. Try yellow Sallys or Stone Flies . Nothing super big, just the normal Truckee River planter size.

Elmer Bull of Yerington reported he and his family had good action on a late afternoon at Beach No. 6, with live minnows, for some white bass, a couple of wipers and a walleye. The water level is really going down. ?Į

Dennis Dunn, Mark, Rocket and Scott at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472: Fishing is still excellent, both from shore or in boats. The perch are running 11 inches and the trout are 16-22 inches. Some guy caught two 10 pound Channel Catfish.

High daytime temperatures have made rainbow trout sluggish and the fishing slow. Largemouth bass, on the other hand, have provided good fishing for anglers fishing the weed beds and the deep water along the dam.

PowerBait, spinners and spoons have been the ticket for rainbow trout at Willow Beach where anglers have been reeling in rainbows up to 14-inches long. Action has been good for anglers fishing from the shoreline as well as from boats. Striped bass fishermen have also been catching fish in the same area, some on hardware others on swim baits. It's HOT! And that means most anglers are coming off the water early in the morning. But those who are willing to endure the heat have been finding good action for striped bass. Most anglers are finding success with hardware, some on top of the water and some a little deeper. Anglers using cut bait have also been catching fish, but not as many as

Gene St. Denis: I've been fishing 50-200 feet deep at Ski Run Shelf, Camp Richardson and the Tahoe Keys. Trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and minnows. Bouncing off the bottom in a serpentine pattern. Macks are 2-7 pounds.

Gene St. Denis: Trolling for Mackinaw 60-150 feet deep with flashers and minnows.

Chuck and Linda Fields at the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): I'm busy paying bills right now (Monday morning). Not much fishing going on, the fish have gone deep. It's pretty darn quiet out here.

Elmer Bull reported: My son and some friends fished there late Monday afternoon. They caught and released some bass and bluegill. One of the bullgills was an 11-incher which was in the trophy class. ?Į

It's the best fishing, I've seen in the last 10 years. Everything is biting. The perch are running 11 inches, the trout are 16-22 inches and lots of Channel Catfish are being caught.
