Pyramid has continued to fish well!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Pyramid has continued to fish well, mostly on days with any weather. The sunny, windless days expected this week may very well make the bite tough, but there are still ways to get some eats during this time.  Often when the sun is high and the lake is glass, we look for beaches with greater drop offs and set our flies deep, to the tune of

Truckee River Fishing Report & Forecast

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The flows on the Truckee have stabilized after last week’s rain and are currently sitting at 200 CFS around Glenshire, and 400 CFS at Farad. We would consider these flows ideal, being slightly above average for this time of year.  Along the upper river, we are finding good fishing using light nymph setups, with 2 smaller flies, a bit of split shot and a 1/2” to

A Great Start to the New Year!

by RUSTY
The striped bass bite is off to a strong start this season! Local angler Ron Barnett was fishing at Community Park, casting a swim bait from the shore when he landed an impressive trophy fish. This striped bass weighed in at 26.46 pounds and measured 41 inches in length—quite the catch along the shores of the Colorado River below the Davis Dam. Bullhead City Community Park

The reservoir is around 70 percent open water, with the rest being covered in very thin ice

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The reservoir is ~70% open water, with the rest being covered in very thin ice. These conditions are NOT safe for ice fishing. The southwest shores are all open water. Shoreline anglers are having luck reeling in brown trout and rainbow trout, with brown trout catch rates having gone up significantly since the fall stockings. Spinning lures seem to be getting more hits than PowerBait

Fishing Report December 2024

by PYRAMID LAKE FLY FISHING
The lake has spit out some of the biggest fish we have seen since the restocking of the Pilot Peak Strain was re-introduced in 2006. Lots of fish in the 20 pound class have found a net the last couple months. We are not sure why the fishing is so much better now than the last couple years at the same time but we don’t

Lots of rain and snow for the Truckee!

by MATT KOLES
Lots of rain and snow for the Truckee River. Warm storms, so not any snow down here in Hirschdale, all rain, and the river is free from snow just about everywhere.  Flows have come up, but will drop back down in a few days. Winter fishing should be very good.  When the waters a bit milky, streamers, worms, and that shit should be your choice. The weathers

The fishing continues to be solid

by THE FLY SHOP
The fishing continues to be solid at the salty pond, with good numbers of fish cruising the shorelines. Pick your favorite beach and be ready for an opportunity at a high-teen to 20lber. There have been significantly more big fish caught this season than last. Indicator nymphing with Balanced Leeches and midges are producing the most consistent right now, but stripping Popcorn Beetles, Midnight Cowboys,

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The only report I’ve had back from the ranch lately was that it was pretty slow on nymphs for a while at first in the morning but then when this angler switched to streamers he did very well, several fish in the 20+ inch range, mostly browns. He was very happy he made the switch to streamers as he ended up having a very good

Pyramid continues to fish very well in what most consider to be one of the slower months of the season for the lake

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Pyramid continues to fish very well in what most consider to be one of the slower months of the season for the lake. The series of stormy days last week have kept the bite good most days and along most beaches. Looking forward, the clear and cold days ahead may prove to slow things down in the short term. We happened to go out on one

Truckee River Fihing Report

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
This storm has done very little to change the conditions on the river, both here on the California side as well as the Nevada side. The flows came up just a tad along most of the Truckee, but we have already seen this begin to taper off. As predicted in last week’s report the water temps came up a few degrees, but likely will drop again

The whole river is fishing fair to good

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Water Conditions On the Truckee River, water is coming out of Lake Tahoe at 75 cubic feet per second and rolling through the town of truckee at 150 cubic feet per second. Lake Mohave News

by RUSTY
Lake Mohave News Our local anglers recently enjoyed a calm, wind-free day and landed an impressive haul of striped bass. Fishing aboard Mark Osgood's (a.k.a. "Corn-man") boat, the group, including Mark Lyke and Mike Hakenson, were trolling just outside Katherine’s Landing. The striped bass ranged in size, with weights of 9.98, 9.82, and one smaller catch at 8.7 pounds. Their lengths were 36", 29", and 24",

The fall of 2024 has been the best we’ve ever seen

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
After another epic week out here, we are going to call it.. The fall of 2024 has been the best we’ve ever seen. If there’s anyone who is reading this that has yet to experience this lake or just hasn’t made it out yet this year, all we can say is; you’re missing out. While in some ways fishing out here is pretty straight forward, it’s

The Truckee River fished great this week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee River fished great this week during the sunny days and warmer air temps. For nymph fishing, the name of the game has been going small on your dropper fly, down to a size 18-20 in most cases. With the storm rolling in, expect the fish to switch gears on their preferences, especially when the water begins to gain some color. Stoneflies, worms, eggs and

South Fork Ice Update

by SOUTH FORK STATE REC. AREA
South Fork Ice Update: Warmer than average conditions have caused a recession in ice. Most areas of the shore now have open water, with ice in some of the coves and a few large pieces floating in the lake. In other words...Safe for Eagles...NOT Safe for People. We will provide updates should we get a significant cold spell and begin seeing ice building back up. For now, enjoy
