Exceptional Time of Year on the Truckee!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
This is an exceptional time of year to find some of the best trout fishing on this river. In our opinion the months of October and November are only rivaled by prime months such as March or June in terms of the quality of fishing here on the Truckee. Fall provides some of the best fishing of the year, so long as we have the

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
Local angler Dale Scott was fishing from shore in the Rotary Park area using anchovies for bait when he landed a small striper and a nice-sized carp weighing 12.12 pounds and measuring 30 inches. We have plenty of carp in our area, and they'll bite on almost anything. Carp is one of the few fish in our area that can be taken by bow and

Cooler Weather Maybe Will Cause Hotter Fishing

by MATT KOLES
The heat may finally be leaving. A little cooler starting now. Maybe that'll get the fishing a little hotter on the Truckee River.  Been a hot September, and early October. That, and the with the lower flows, fishing hasn't been easy. Hopefully now we can jumpstart into some good fall fishing.  I've been all up and sown the river. Well, from Boca, down to out East into

2024 PYRAMID LAKE OPENER

by PYRAMID FLY CO.
The weather in North Western Nevada has been just spectacular. Really warm days coupled with cool nights has made near perfect conditions for the opening week. A bit of wind in the forecast, but that is to be expected from time to time. This time of year we are on board Watermaster’s, so exposure to the elements is at a maximum. Layer up lightly, hoodies

The Opener was on Tuesday, and water temps have been high

by RENO FLY SHOP
The Opener was on Tuesday, and water temps have been high. At noon, surface temperatures were at 71°. This is keeping the LCT below 60 feet in most cases with several fish being marked at 20′-30′ with a Garmin Striker Cast with a few fish caught from shore in the early morning hours stripping baitfish, Pyramid Lake Bugger and Tui Chub. Bait balls are present

Flows are changing a bit

by RENO FLY SHOP
Flows are changing a bit. We’re looking at 275 CFS through the downtown gauge. Flows may fluctuate a bit as diversions and ditches begin to shut off in our area. Water temps are perfect and holding in the mid 60sF to mid 50sF. Fish have been feeding on small flies (#18-#20), BH Zebra Midge and Hot Butt, with a few fish still on crayfish patterns, Mini

Active Fish, Good Flows, and Comfortable Conditions!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
We have seen a slight decrease in flows in the canyon section of the Truckee this week with the Farad gauging station dropping from 475 CFS to 400 as of today due to flows tapering off out of both Prosser and Boca. This is not a very drastic decrease and shouldn’t change conditions much. It will allow anglers to be able to cross the river

The lake level has been going down about 8 inches a week

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level has been going down about 8 inches a week. I would keep away from the far south end of the lake while trolling. As you may know or you will see. The depths go from 25 feet to 3 feet in a matter of just a short time. Keep an eye on your depth finder. The lake temps have been dropping and the

The river was planted by NDOW recently

by DOUG BUSEY
The river was planted by NDOW recently. Fishing has been doing well up by the old broken dam and down stream.

Striper bite is doing well up on the Lake Mohave

by RUSTY
We have some exciting news from Lake Mohave: the striper bite is doing well! Local anglers Mark Osgood (known as Corn Man) and Shelli had a successful outing, trolling an AC plug and a white bucktail jig to catch three stripers. The sizes of their catches were impressive: one weighed 7.7 pounds and measured 29¼ inches, another was 7.92 pounds and 28 3/8 inches, and

Fishing on the Truckee is Overall Alright

by MATT KOLES
Hot weather here on the Truckee River.  Somewhat cold at night and hot during the day, but a pretty early fall heat wave happening.  So, don't look for any dry fly fishing, ain't happening, streamer fishing, nada. Bright sun means you're nymphing-unless the weather the changes. Flows are still pretty average for fall. Good wading flows. Not too high or nothing.  The fishing is all right. Not the greatest,

The ranch has been fishing excellent this past week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch has been fishing excellent this past week with reports coming in from anglers getting into 30+ fish per day. Some of the anglers down there are doing great with streamers and some with nymphs, it seems like one or the other works better on certain days so I would be prepared to fish whichever method they are liking the best for the day

The Truckee is kicking out quality fish!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee has been increasingly kicking out more quality fish daily. While we would love to see a bit more of the drizzly, overcast weather typical of this time of year, the fish are still very much on the chew and the 80-degree days expected all week will sure be nice for the fisher, while keeping the bite consistent. You can even still comfortably wet
