BOR begins cold water flows to disrupt spawning of nonnative smallmouth bass below Glen Canyon Dam

Nice cool weather and easy fishing on the Truckee River. Lows haves dipped in the 30's this week. Crazy, coming off the back of a really hot early part of July. Flows are great and it's just nice to be out in the mornings on the river. Very much crayfish time, caddis, and smaller mayfly time. We'll get them nocturnal stones soon in the canyons

Fishing has been fair at squaw. Bass fishing has been good near the inlet with better trout fishing found towards the dam and in open water with the extreme heat. . Float tubers bouncing jigs on the bottom are finding some good fish around structure. Shore anglers are catching primarily trout on crawlers and power bait off the bottom.

We have some fresh news from our local angler. He was out on his boat and landed a nice stringer of fish. The biggest catch was a channel catfish weighing 3.74 pounds and measuring 21 and 1/8 inches. The largest largemouth bass weighed 2.18 pounds and was 15 and 1/5 inches. There's no size limit on catfish, but bass must be at least 13 inches
