This week, we have some exciting news from the Colorado River. Local angler Pat Dell caught a few stripers while fishing from shore, using anchovies as bait. The largest striper weighed 5 pounds and measured 24 inches. These fish are being caught from Davis Dam to the Nature Center, and likely even in the marsh area. The Truckee River has seen the temps drop below the 68 degree mark along most sections of river with the exception of the Sparks, NV gauge which hit 69 degrees at 5:30 PM yesterday, the 22nd. Water Conditions The Truckee River is flowing out of Lake Tahoe at 260 CFS. As it continues towards Truckee, it’s flowing around 256 CFS. The Truckee has continued to see warm water temps this week, and we will likely be in for a few more weeks of this before temps cool off consistently. This does not mean you cannot fish, it means we ask you to be aware of when you’re fishing and limiting you time on the water to the morning hours along certain stretches of the river

The river is continuing to drop, but it should stabilize soon. It is currently at 280 cfs at the Reno gauge. While this might feel low compared to the flows this summer it is actually slightly higher than the median daily flow as can be seen in the graph below. Rolling right along through Summer on the Truckee River. Pretty good fishing in the mornings.   Not too much change since last week, except that flows have come down a bit out of Boca. Nice in the mornings, hot in the afternoons. Pretty typical for us. So around 475 cfs, here in Hirschdale, and about 350 cfs, in Reno. We have a lot of water stored in the reservoirs.
