Community park has become a hotspot for striper fishing

by RUSTY
This week, the community park has become a hotspot for striper fishing. Our local anglers have had great success along the shores of the Colorado River in the community park vicinity. Bryon Kilgore managed to reel in an impressive 5.72-pound striper, measuring 26 and 3/8 inches. He employed fly fishing techniques from the shore, using an orange and yellow patterned fly lure. Fishing has been good at Davis Pond

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has been good at Davis Pond. Bait fisherman using powerbait off the bottom or salmon eggs under a bobber are excellent techniques at all of our community ponds. Spin fisherman using small and light spinners have found a few fish early in the day. Terrestrial imitations can provide fly fisherman with some exciting dry fly action all day long.

Baily is fishing excellent

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Baily is fishing excellent and has been stocked several times this season.  The most consistent way of catching fish at Baily is salmon eggs under the bobber. Fly fisherman slowly retrieving peacock bodied nymphs will find fish just about any time. Trout fishing will continue to be good until water temperatures really climb. After that, anglers should find excellent green sunfish fishing through mid summer.

Flows have come down significantly over the last few weeks

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Flows have come down significantly over the last few weeks but still have a little ways to go before it’s prime. While flows are up, try larger wet flies and lures in bright colors during the brightest part of the day or black early and late. Plenty of hoppers line the shore but flows are a little high for fish to really be able to

Fishing has been good at Lahontan

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has been good at Lahontan. Spin fisherman using jigs and spoons and fly fisherman using bright streamers are still consistently finding fish. The typical sandy beaches have been putting out fair numbers of small bass early and late in the day. Walleye fishing has been fair near the dam but should pick up as we start to cool down. There has been a few

Fishing should remain good through fall

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE

Walleye fishing continues to be good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
I cant believe that I’m reporting that walleye fishing continues to be good, but has to slow down soon. Most walleye are ranging 17-23”. Night crawlers under a bobber or carp cut bait from shore.  Boats have been trolling rapalas or worm harnesses in close to shore. Its been an excellent year at Chimney, one for the record books. Get there if you can before

The average size trout has jumped significantly over the last two seasons

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has been fair. The average size trout has jumped significantly over the last two seasons. Larger fish in the 17-22 inch range are starting to show up again more consistently. Insects have been prolific. Midge, mayflies, and damsels are hatching in strong numbers throughout the day. Large leech patterns on sinking lines can often save the day here in the mid-summer heat. Spin fisherman

Flows have finally come down on the EW

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Flows have finally come down on the EW and fishing should be really good for the remainder of the summer. The hatchery just stocked nearly 5k fish in the last week with flows still a little higher than average. Be sure to use caution when wading. Spin fishing with spoons and rapalas should continue to produce fish in deep water and protected pools. Fishing should

Bilk has had a few tough years but should improve this fall with stocking

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Bilk has had a few tough years but should improve this fall with stocking. There are still a few bass in the lake, but the trout should be the main catch when temperatures come down a little. Warms are a great all-around bait off the bottom, or under a bobber for both the bass and trout.

The striper bite along the shores of the Colorado River is great

by RUSTY
It's river news again! The striper bite along the shores of the Colorado River is great. Local anglers and visiting ones are doing well with anchovies as the go-to bait. Tom Gallant and his fishing buddy John Schott had a successful day and landed a few fish. They were fishing from Tom's boat using anchovies near the nature center area. John's catch weighed in at

Summetime mode on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Summetime mode on the Truckee River. Get out early before it gets too hot It’s like this every single summer. Get out on the river early and get your fishing in. When I drive to town in the afternoon and I see the guy at the loop putting on his waders when it’s 93 degrees out, don’t be that guy. Even Power bait ain’t gonna work at

Truckee River Fishing Report

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The fishing has been excellent on the main river. Dry flies, streamers, and nymphs are all in play right now. In fact, this is shaping up to be some of the best dry fly fishing we have seen in a long time on the Truckee. Caddis, PMD’s and Yellow Salley’s are the primary hatches. The PMD and Yellow Salley have been hatching sporadically throughout the
