Cold Creek Reservoir Update

Cold Creek Reservoir was salvaged last in November so that water control structure could be fixed to prevent leaking. When the control structure is fixed, the reservoir will be filled and NDOW will begin rebuilding the fishery in spring or summer of 2022 depending upon water conditions.

Shore anglers are staying busy catching limits of rainbow trout. Trout jigs and mice tails in bright colors are working well. Anglers are throwing soft swimbaits 10-15 feet from shore to land stripers weighing more than 5 pounds.

Willow Beach anglers are seeing rainbow trout activity throughout the day. Boaters in the area are battling weeds and are finding the best fishing conditions south of the marina. Lake Mohave boaters are trolling swimbaits to tempt striped bass at the openings of coves near Davis Dam. Black bass are hitting both soft and jointed plastics near shore.

We hope all is well as we start off the new year. Our local angler Gerry Ward has been keeping us up to date with the trout bite and showing off a limit of our rainbow trout. Gerry landed these rainbows while fishing from shore using a green colored trout jig. He will sometimes add a bright colored mouse tail to his dark colored jig.

All the reservoirs are covered with thin ice. The ice this week is unsafe to venture out on. Please use extreme caution and avoid cloudy-colored ice, as the less clear the ice, the more potentially hazardous it is. Stay off anything less than 4-inches thick; even thicker if you are in a group. Shore fishing is limited to open water, which varies each day.
