Davis Dam Fishing Report

by RUSTY
The striper bite is doing ok along the Colorado river here below Davis Dam.  The casino area is producing a few along with the upper big bend area anchovies are working well along with various hard baits.  We are not having much trout action mostly due to our warmer weather.  The trout bite will be back soon and our weather will start to cool some.

Mid Teener that Pulled Hard!!

by MIKE NIELSEN
Catch and release day aside from three I kept for friends. Ran across to north side for fair action early then bite faded so we came back south. Got into quick flurry that included this mid teener that pulled hard!! Still smoky but dead calm out there!

The Fishing is Good in the Mornings!

by MATT KOLES
A tad cooler, but still hot, and some days lots of smoke on the Truckee River. Sad for communities affected by the fires. I think most of Northern California is under a blanket of smoke. Some days are better than others in the Tahoe/ Reno area depending on which way the winds are blowing. The fishing is good in the mornings on the Truckee River. Crayfish, stones,

The Sceirine is Still Fishing Well!

by JIM REID
The Sceirine is still fishing well, probably a bit better than the California side, mainly due to the lack of pressure. Dead drift crayfish, dark lords and soft hackles have all been working down there in addition to the flies mentioned above. Give us a call if you want to book some time on the ranch!

Bite is Strong!

by MIKE NIELSEN
Tahoe Topliners checked in. Nice string of Lakers. Bite is strong for about an hour then tapers!

Haymeadow and Cold Springs Have Been Very Good for Bass!

by AARON MEIER
Weather remains unsettled as summer thunderstorms pass through the area. Haymeadow and Cold Springs have been very good for bass, fair for crappie, and hit or miss for trout. Adams-McGill is producing a few nice trout and bass on plastics. Dacey has been producing good trout for anglers casting spinners and flies.

Crawdad Imitations are Working Best.

by AARON MEIER
Submerged vegetation is presenting shore anglers with some challenges. Anglers in boats have had a little more success. Bass are taking darker soft plastic worms, but crawdad imitations are working best. Rainbow trout are hitting rainbow colored PowerBait or green with glitter.

The Trout are Taking Rainbow PowerBait

by AARON MEIER
Weeds are getting thicker along the shoreline and the water is getting low. Boaters are finding good fishing for rainbow trout and bass. The trout are taking rainbow PowerBait, as well as the green glitter variety. Bass are hitting soft plastics in green, brown or black with glitter.

Stripers in the 3- to 5-Pound Range

by AARON MEIER
Striped bass are cruising the river below Davis Dam and hitting on anchovies or large crankbaits. Anglers are catching a few stripers in the 3- to 5-pound range, but most fish are averaging 1 to 2 pounds. One lucky angler reeled in a catfish weighing 13 pounds below Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area. The angler was fishing with anchovies from his boat

Good Action for Smallmouth Bass!

by AARON MEIER
Good action for smallmouth bass has been reported over the past week. Fishing for largemouth bass has been a little tougher. Smallies are hanging off rocky shelves with largemouth a little deeper in submerged brush. Crawdad imitations and drop-shot rigs are catching the fish. Stripers have been a little spotty with anglers having success over night with anchovies. Rainbow trout and stripers are still biting

Bluegill are Providing Good Action at Floyd Lamb

by AARON MEIER
Bluegill are providing good action at Floyd Lamb, Lorenzi and Veterans Memorial parks. Lorenzi also is giving up green sunfish. These fish are small so they will be easier to catch with small hooks and small worms. Mealworms are catching bluegill and catfish. Light colored poppers are bringing in bass.

Striper Boils are Giving Anglers Fast Action!

by AARON MEIER
Anglers are finding the best fishing in the morning hours before the storms come up from the south. Striper boils are giving anglers fast action with top-water baits. When coming to a boil cast from the outside to avoid spooking the fish.  Silver and yellow Crankbait and jigs have worked well. Zara Spooks, Jumpin’ Minnows, pencil poppers and shad imitations also will catch the fish.

We Have Some Catfish News!

by RUSTY
We have some catfish news channel cats.   The Topock Marsh is active and not just with Largemouth Bass.  Here along the Colorado river below the Davis Dam its mostly striper action.  Anchovies is your go to bait.  There is some trout action but this time of year it slows mostly due to our warm weather.  I have been hearing that the casino area is

Nice and cool and really good solid fishing in the morning.  Hot and smoke in the afternoons. Kinda the way it is in the summer on the Truckee River. Crayfish, nocturnal stones, caddis and baetis should be in the nymph box.  Get
