Hard to believe today is the first day of Spring. We're having a little glitch in system with some rain and snow this morning, but after two weeks of warm weather we need it. It would be nice to get a couple more snow storms before summer, but the way its looking, that's iffy. Good news is that the fishing will be good all Spring.

Eagle Valley Reservoir is ice free

The reservoir is ice free and following the most recent storm front the water is a little murky. Anglers have been doing well for rainbows and small brown trout using Mepp's Spinners, night crawlers, and PowerBait.

Striper fishing is improving at Lake Mohave

Striper fishing has improved in the Willow Beach area. AC Plugs have been taking fish near mile marker 50, some as large as 18 pounds. At Cottonwood Cove anglers have found success for striped bass as large as seven pounds.

Fishing has been light at Lake Mead

Fishing has been light following the recent storm activity. The Government Wash has produced striped bass for anglers trolling in 30 to 40 feet of water. To entice the bite of the largemouth and smallmouth bass, try using crank baits and swimbaits fished on the bottom near nests.

Blue Wing hatches have been gnarly on the Truckee River

Man, the blue wing hatches have been gnarly the last few days down on the lower Truckee River in Nevada. Funny though, if its blue bird, fish will stay down, and cloudy they'll be up on top. This week will be sunny and warm. I'm sure we'll also see descent hatches of march browns and skwalas throughout the entire system. Bugs galore I guess. Feels

The Striper bite in Laughlin NV is slow but the Rainbows more than make up for it

The striper bait in Laughlin NV is slow but rainbow trout are providing anglers with good action. A pair of anglers recently checked in with bows pushing past the four-pound threshold. Trout are biting in the Davis Camp area, along Casino Row and near Rotary Park. The last trout plant of the year will take place March 12.

Lake Mohave had a great Largemouth Tournament last Saturday

Good weather and no wind made for a great largemouth bass tournament Saturday. The top angler brought in a five-fish limit that totaled more than 18 pounds and included a 6.5-pound fish. Productive baits include plastics, live worms and various reaction baits.

The big fish are biting at Lake Mead

The big fish are out and biting again. A large striper just over 20 pounds was brought into the Laker Plaza bait and tackle shop along with about a dozen in the six- to nine-pound range.
