Officials at the State Park measured 5.5 inches of clear ice near the boat ramp

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
As of 02/05/24, officials at the State Park measured 5.5″ of clear ice near the boat ramp, with 6″+ of slush on top.  As warmer temps persist, it is important to be extremely cautious on the ice. Ice thickness will vary in different areas, so be sure to sample your fishing area for yourself. Do not use ATVs or snowmachines on the ice at this

South Fork Reservoir Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
As of 02/01/24 South Fork has around 80% open water.  Shoreline anglers are having luck fishing on the southwest side of the lake, catching rainbow trout in the 15″-18” range, with a few brown trout in the mix. A worm 5′ under a bobber is the go-to for spin anglers, while fly anglers continue to have success with leech patterns.

Doubles and Triples Galore

by PYRAMID FLY CO.
January is always a mixed bag when it comes to Pyramid Lake. Traditionally, it can be a frigid month with the catching action matching the weather; cold and unforgiving. This January didn’t disappoint, and even though we had a handful of slow days, they were easily justified by the days where the lake gave up the trout. The tail end of January provided some fantastic days.

Pyramid Lake Fishing Report

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
We expect to see this storm cycle will really help to turn the bite on at Pyramid this week. We are seeing low barometric pressure, overcast skies, just a touch of wind every day, and a good moon phase. These factors that we look at when we forecast the fishing out here help us make predictions on the fishing along with other things like water

This week’s abnormally warm weather made for some excellent fishing on the Truckee

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
This week’s abnormally warm weather made for some excellent fishing on the Truckee. We are lucky to still have great flows thanks to last year’s big winter, and the river has been in excellent shape. We have been getting a fair amount of phone calls about water clarity on the Truckee over the last week or two, and we think a big part of this

The lake level is high

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level is high. The Douglas County park is open for camping. The boat ramp is open, but I would advise deeper boats on the east side and smaller on the west. The middle ramp was submerged last week. Fishing was slow for the first hour or so. I had to do some traveling to find the fish. The west side was most productive

The river was running good and clear

by DOUG BUSEY
The river was running good and clear. The fishing has been slow.  In Nevada you may fish with artificial flies or lures or bait. 5 fish limit.

Ice Conditions update!

by SPRING VALLEY STATE PARK
Ice Conditions update! Ice conditions have rapidly deteriorated this week. Currently the shore line is turning into open water and there is roughly an inch of water on top of most of the ice. We strongly recommend people stay off the ice! Based on the forecast we don't expect conditions to get better any time soon. #nvstateparks #vistlincolncountynv

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
This week, our anglers are reeling in Rainbow Trout on the hook. Community Park has been a hotspot, yielding some impressive catches. Local angler Gerry Ward made a return with a nice limit of five Rainbow Trout from the Willow Beach Hatchery, situated at the base of the Hoover Dam on Lake Mohave. The hatchery benefits from the cold water flowing from the Ace Way,

Rehabilitation Efforts Underway at Hinkson Slough Fishing Pond in Mason Valley WMA

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Mason Valley, NV– The popular Hinkson Slough fishing pond will remain closed through Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area’s (WMA) fishing opener on Saturday, February 10 as the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) takes proactive measures to address ongoing challenges at the pond. Following last spring’s flooding that affected the entire WMA, NDOW initiated plans for habitat improvements and Common Carp removal efforts at Hinkson Slough. However,

Great open-water fishing opportunities at South Fork

by SOUTH FORK STATE REC. AREA
As "June-uary" comes to a close, melting most of what was left of our ice, there are great open-water fishing opportunities at South Fork. The weather is looking generally mild for the next week, with temps reaching the mid 40's. Come out and tighten a line. #troutfishing #rainbowtrout #nevadastateparks #fishing #WarmWinter

Pyramid Lake continues to fish better and better

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Pyramid Lake continues to fish better and better, and while these storms may not really help the long-term snowpack on the Pacific Crest, it has definitely helped the short-term fishing out here. These smaller and warmer storms have also helped to keep the fishing conditions out here a bit more tolerable, especially compared to this time last year. However, we expect the fishing will slow

The Truckee has seen a serious rise in water temperatures this week with the recent rain

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee has seen a serious rise in water temperatures this week with the recent rain. We saw the river hit 42 degrees early this week, a pretty serious change from the 32-degree lows seen in the middle of the month. This is due more so to the rain than ambient temperatures. It has additionally lowered water clarity a bit as well, turning the color

Ice Report!

by SPRING VALLEY STATE PARK
Ice Report! Park staff measured ice today and found an average of 8 inches. Please remember conditions can vary and change drastically so please be careful and check conditions for yourself before going out on the ice! #nvstateparks #vistlincolncountynv

The lake has been fishing well with a lot of quality fish!

by RENO FLY SHOP
Pyramid Lake Report Section by Mike Anderson Pyramid Lake may start fishing well earlier than we’re used to, and here’s why. El Niño years are typically warm and wet. On a typical season at Pyramid Lake, one of the factors that makes fishing better in the spring is the warming of the water as days get longer. With an El Niño year water temps rarely drop

The dry fly fishing has gained momentum in the last week or two

by RENO FLY SHOP
Truckee River Report Section by Aden Breckner The Truckee River has seen an increase in water temperature over the last week – kickstarting a consistent hatch of midges with a few Blue Winged Olives (BWO). With temperatures rising throughout the day, early morning has not been particularly productive. Around 10-11 am, fish activity has increased and the fishing has been much better. Nymph fishing has been best
