We're still experiencing a fantastic striper bite below the Davis Dam on Lake Mohave. The fishing has been a bit slow lately, but some anglers have had success trolling with hard baits. Pyramid Lake opened with a bang, tons of big fish were caught, and it appears as though the 30 pound mark may have been broken. We saw lots of fish over 20 pounds and plenty of numbers as well. The Pyramid Lake season is off to a terrific start

The long awaited Pyramid Lake Opener for the 2023-2024 season has finally arrived, with spectacular fishing closely following. While the first day of the season (October 1) was windy and wavy, the days following allowed anglers to get out and fish more effectively. Fish have been caught on a variety of flies and techniques recently

The Truckee River is currently flowing around 330 cfs at the USGS gauge near downtown Reno. While flow has dropped here in town over the last few weeks, 330 cfs is a great flow to see in October. This should set up our Fall fishing well and as we move into the winter months.  Fish have been caught on a variety of flies and techniques recently.

The conditions remain incredibly consistent

The conditions remain incredibly consistent yet again this week with flows at the Farad gauge reading around 450 CFS and water temps swinging from 52-58 degrees throughout the day. Water levels at Jakes Creek are in good shape

Water levels at Jakes Creek are in good shape, appearing to have risen slightly in recent weeks, with the weed growth being somewhat reduced.  Fishing has been fair to good for both bass and trout, with an occasional catfish catch.  Trout are averaging 9-to-14 inches. The road to the reservoir has been impacted by flood waters, but remains completely passable.

Striper Fishing Update

We've been having some success catching nice-sized stripers along the shores of the Colorado River below the Davis Dam. Tahoe Trophy Trout gets Grand Slam on Lake Tahoe
