Donner Lake remains in excellent shape heading into late June, sitting at full capacity with water temperatures in the low to mid-50s. Shore anglers continue to find consistent success, particularly along the west end of the lake, where rainbow trout are actively feeding on PowerBait, worms, and various spinner presentations. Mackinaw fishing remains productive as fish continue holding in relatively shallow water for this time of year. Kokanee fishing at Donner Lake has improved noticeably over the past several weeks, with fish feeding aggressively despite their smaller size. Anglers targeting kokanee should focus around China Cove and troll flashers or hoochies between 40 and 60 feet for the best opportunity at consistent action.
