Fishing Has Been Good on The Carson

Flows on the Carson are about 80 cfs and fishing has been good. Spin fisherman using small spinners slowly retrieved in deeper pools have caught a few good fish. Fly fisherman using small streamer have done equally as well. As temperatures continue to drop, the trout metabolism decreases making slow moving lures and flies more productive. Light leaders and tippets will also increase catch rates.

Closed until Jan 1, 2020

The lake is closed to fishing until January 1st 2012. The NDOW has planted the lake with 10K lbs of trout within the last couple months. The Topaz Lodge fishing derby will not take place. But they will be giving away the 20121 Topaz Lodge fishing hats.

Opens back up on January 1, 2021

The lake is closed to fishing until January 1,2021. The water level is low right now. Hopefully we will get some rain and snow to fill it up in time for opening day. The NDOW has been planting the lake heavily over the last few weeks. They have planted over 7000 lbs of trout and are not done yet.

11lb. Rainbow At Lake Tahoe

Lil grind yesterday but ended up 16 fish. Kept 14 biggest just at 11.5. The hens are really showing roe sacs now!
